A skirmish broke out between protesting junior doctors and relatives of a patient's family in West Bengal's West Midnapore, following the death of a new-born. The incident took place at the Midnapore Medical College on Saturday, 15 June.

Reportedly, a woman was admitted in the hospital three days ago, after she went into labour. The woman gave birth to a male child.

However, on Saturday morning, the family members were informed about the death of the child, following which they started demonstrating in front of the protesting doctors, with the body of the infant.

The situation soon became tense and the police had to take action to control the two sparring sides.

According to reports, at least 10 doctors of the pediatric department of the hospital have tendered their resignation, in the wake of the state-wide protests by medical professionals over violence against doctors.
