The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police registered a rape case against self-professed godman Daati Maharaj on Wednesday, 13 June, after a 25-year-old woman filed a complaint that he and two of his disciples had raped her, reported ANI.
The case was transferred from the district police to the Crime Branch on Tuesday, 12 June. The woman had filed the complaint at the Fatehpur Beri police station in south Delhi on Sunday, 10 June.
Refuting the allegations, the godman told ANI that he will not accuse the girl because “she has always been my daughter.”
ANI reported that the woman’s statement has been recorded by the Delhi Police Crime Branch.
She also told the police that a female disciple would allegedly force her into Daati’s room, and if she refused, would tell her that other disciples too slept with him, PTI reported.
According to PTI, after she narrated the ordeal to her parents, they approached the police and registered a case.
The Crime Branch has also started the process of issuing a Lookout Circular against Daati Maharaj. He will not be allowed to leave the country, reported ANI.
