- Rajiv Bansal, the Additional Secretary in the Petroleum Ministry, has been named Air India Chairman and Managing Director on 23 August.
- He replaced Ashwani Lohani, who was appointed the Railway Board Chairman after AK Mittal resigned from the post.
- Mittal resigned in the wake of two train derailments in under five days in Uttar Pradesh.
