Three people were killed, and 26 injured in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral, Pulwama, on 21 September.

Jammu and Kashmir Minister of Public Works, Naeem Akhtar, is said to have been the likely target of the attack, reported PTI. The alleged militants opened fire after hurling a grenade at the minister’s police escort team near a busy bus stand in Tral.

At least 20 people have been injured in the attack, reported CNN News-18.

Of the injured, 10 are civilians, and seven are CRPF personnel.

Six injured civilians have been taken to a hospital in Srinagar, of which two are in a critical state, reported ANI.

A grenade hurled at the motorcade of the state minister exploded on the road after hitting a security vehicle, senior state police official Manoj Pandita told Reuters.

The incident occurred when the minister was on his way to inaugurate a project in Tral. Naeem Akhtar told Reuters he was safe.

Protests were staged outside the Sub District Hospital in Tral soon as civilians alleged that security personnel shot pellets at them soon after the militant strike, reported Kashmir Reader. According to the report, hospital sources confirmed that several civilians had been admitted on account of pellet injuries.
