Ramjas College turned into a battleground as violent clashes broke out on Wednesday afternoon between the right-wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) supporters and the left-wing All India Students’ Association (AISA).

The clashes come a day after ‘Cultures of Protest’, a two-day long seminar organised by Ramjas College, had to be cancelled after members of the ABVP protested against the participation of Jawaharlal Nehru University students, Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid Shora.

The violent protest is oddly similar to what had happened in JNU and Hyderabad University previously, but the question is, why are university protests taking a violent turn?
