A clash between two political groups in Cooch Behar in West Bengal left at least one individual injured on Wednesday, 19 December.

News agency ANI reported two teachers were injured after a firing inside a private school, adding an investigation has been initiated.

However, speaking to The Quint, a police official denied any incident of firing. “We haven’t received any evidence to confirm that shots were fired,” said Sanjay Dutta, Circle Inspector of Dinhata, a municipality in Cooch Behar.

He also said that the doctors have confirmed injury to only one individual.

“There was a clash between Trinamool Congress workers and supporters of an independent candidate outside a school in Gitalda, but we have information on people clashing with bamboo sticks,” Dutta said.
