PM Modi & Amit Shah Meet Jaitley’s Family At His Residence

The senior BJP leader passed away atAIIMS on Saturday. He was 66.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited late former Union minister Arun Jaitley’s residence on Tuesday, 27 August to pay his tributes and extend condolences to his family. About half an hour prior to the Prime Minister’s arrival, Home Minister Amit Shah also reached the residence to meet the family.

Shah, along with Rohan Jaitley, the former Union finance minister's son, received the prime minister.

Other family members were also present when PM Modi walked in and spoke to Jaitley's wife and children. The prime minister spent about 20-25 minutes at Jaitley's residence.

“Arun Jaitley was a political giant, towering intellectual and legal luminary,” tweeted Modi. He said on 24 August he had also spoken to his wife and son, Sangeeta and Rohan, and passed on his condolences.

Learning of his demise, PM Modi who was in the UAE for his tri-nation tour had said that the leader had an “unbreakable bond”with the BJP.

PM Modi had visited Jaitley at the hospital to enquire about his health when he was hospitalised on 9 August.

On Sunday, 25 August, Jaitley was cremated with full state honours at Nigambodh Ghat in the presence of family members and numerous party leaders and admirers.
