PM Modi Most Followed Leader on Facebook, but Obama Remains Boss

Donald Trump is second in position with 20 million followers, according to the report.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now the most liked world leader on Facebook with over 40 million people who follow his personal account. In August last year, he became the most followed Indian on Twitter, surpassing Amitabh Bachchan.

According to a report by Burson-Marsteller, Donald Trump is on second position with 20 million followers and on third position is the PM’s official account, the PMO, with 13 million followers.

Other Indians in the top 20 list included President Pranab Mukherjee at number 9 and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at number 16.

Obama Not in Race, Still Winning

Former US President Barack Obama was the most popular world leader in 2016 with 46 million followers. As of 2017, Obama’s Facebook account has 54 million followers, which is more than all the current world leaders.

The study also analyses social media interactions that these accounts have with people. According to the report, Cambodian Prime Minister’s Facebook account has garnered over 58 million interactions, placing him in third position after Modi and Trump.
