Navjot Singh Sidhu to Face Trial in 2009 LS Polls Case

He violated the election expenditure cap of Rs 25 lakh and transferred 11 officers.

• Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu will face trial in a case involving alleged wrongdoings during the 2009 Lok Sabha election, says Supreme Court
• The former BJP leader, who won from Amritsar in 2009, has been accused of allegedly violating the election expenditure cap of Rs 25 lakh. He also transferred 11 officers after the election.
• The 52-year-old resigned from the BJP in September this year and floated a “non-political” platform, Awaaz-e-Punjab, along with MLAs Pargat Singh, Simarjeet Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains.
