The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has initiated measures to withdraw cases registered against BJP MLA from Sardhana, Sangeet Som.
The state’s law department has written to officials asking the status of 7 cases registered against the controversial lawmaker, three of which are related to the 2013 riots in Muzaffarnagar, reported NDTV.
The cases being reviewed to be withdrawn against MLA Som, according to News 18, include:
An inquiry will be done by the administration on the progress of these cases in the local courts and a report of the same will be sent to UP government’s law department.
A call will be taken by the law department and if the government wishes to withdraw the cases, they will have to approach the local court where the case is being heard. The court’s decision on the matter will be final, according to NDTV.
The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has started the process to withdraw 74 cases related to riots but the court is yet to give permission for the same, according to News 18.
