1. Uddhav, Fadnavis Share Stage at Mumbai Event
For a few hours on Wednesday, 23 January, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray shared a stage and appeared cordial at an event to hand over a plot at Shivaji Park for the Bal Thackeray memorial, even as uncertainty continues over whether the BJP and Sena will join hands for the upcoming elections.
Before the event, Fadnavis and Thackeray held a 20-minute meeting, but Sena leaders maintained there was no discussion of the polls or the alliance during this time.

2. MET: Expect Cloudy Days like Wednesday for a While
The city has been witnessing fluctuating weather conditions since a few days. Mumbaikars woke up to unusually cloudy skies after rising temperatures over the weekend and a sudden drop thereafter.
The maximum temperature recorded on Wednesday, 23 January, by the Met department at Colaba was 27 degrees which as 2.5 degrees below normal and it was 27.2 degrees at Santacruz which was 3.4 degrees below normal. In the case Santacruz, the maximum temperature was the lowest since 2014 and third lowest in a decade.

3. AICC Approves MPCC Election Committees
All India Congress Committee chief Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, 23 January, approved Maharashtra Congress’ proposal to form Coordination Committee, Pradesh Election Committee, Publicity Committee, Media Coordination Committee, Manifesto Committee and Election Management Committee.

4. Tackling Drought: Centre Nod to Rs 7,962 Cr Aid
Union Minister for Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh on Wednesday, 23 January, gave his nod to Rs 7,962-crore assistance sought by the Maharashtra government to tackle drought, Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a meeting with Singh in Mumbai on Wednesday.

5. Share Trader Held for Killing, Chopping up Debtor's Body
Less than 12 hours after human body parts were found floating in the septic tank of a residential building in Virar, the police arrested an MSC-maths degree holder as the alleged killer. Police say that on 16 January, Pintu Sharma (42) slaughtered his friend Ganesh Koladkar (58) for not repaying a loan, cut his body into more than 200 pieces and flushed the bits down the toilet.

6. Nine Dogs Found Dead, Poisoning Suspected
Nine stray dogs were found dead in an under-construction plot on Mira Road last week. Police have filed a case against unknown persons and it is suspected that the dogs had been poisoned.
The residents of a slum colony on Mira Road east spotted the dogs on January 18 and informed local animal rights activist Vijaya Fernandes behind whose home the plot is located.

7. Top 100 Property Tax Defaulters: Mills, Builders Owe Bmc Rs 705 Cr
The BMC has drawn up a list of Top 100 property tax defaulters that cumulatively owe it Rs 705 crore. The civic body hopes to recover the outstanding dues from the defaulters, saying "the list cannot be challenged". The defaulters have been told to pay up or face disconnection of water supply.
