Battered by heavy rain over the last four days, Bengaluru has more showers in store. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted thunderstorm on 19 and 20 August and moderate rains two days after.

Forced to deal with flooded roads, traffic jams, and powercuts, citizens have been racing home before the evening showers begin.

On 18 August, a short spell of rain turned Bengaluru’s roads into canals. The traffic police issued a warning to citizens and reported heavy traffic jams in several parts of the city due to water-logging.

The rain will lose intensity only after 23 August.
An official in the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said teams have been kept on standby. Additional equipment too has been sourced to handle the problems of water logging, the official added.

Several families whose houses were flooded, said that they have stopped clearing the water as evening showers bring the rainwater back.
