A man torched a vehicle, believed to be his own car, and reportedly fired gunshots in the air outside the office of the superintendent of police in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, leading to ruckus in the area on Wednesday, 25 September.
The man, identified as one Shubham Chaudhary, was accompanied by a woman, and both were carrying illegal country-made pistols with them. In the dramatic visuals that have surfaced, at least three children can also be seen on the road where the incident took place. Both the man and the woman were eventually arrested.
Regarding the incident, Mathura SSP Shalabh Mathura said that the man in question had called up some people beforehand to say that he was “going to do something”.
Meanwhile an eyewitness was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, “The man was shouting on the mic but was not clearly audible, but it was something about corruption. He fired in the air after setting the car ablaze. Police attempted to move closer but were forced back by the man who had a pistol in his hand.”
