In a security breach, a young man on Thursday, 17 May, threw ink on Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar during his visit to Hisar town, following which the former was arrested. The incident reportedly occurred when Khattar was visiting a temple.

The chief minister had gone to Hisar, nearly 250 km from Chandigarh, to participate in a roadshow in the evening. He was seen wiping off a few ink stains from his face, including forehead, with a handkerchief.

Khattar later drove in an open jeep in the town for the roadshow.

Personnel in the security detail of the Chief Minister, who enjoys Z-plus security, caught hold of the young man, who also shouted slogans against the Khattar government.

Police officials said the accused, who claimed to be an activist of the opposition Indian National Lok Dal, was detained and was being questioned. The INLD workers, however, reportedly denied that he is a member of the party.
