Handwara Operation at Army Camp Ends, 3 Terrorists Killed

This is the third such attack on an Army camp in recent days.

Militants on Thursday attacked an Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The 30 Rashtriya Rifles camp in Langate town of northern district came under fire, a senior police officer said, adding that "alert guards have prevented the militants from entering the camp".

"Heavy exchange of fire was going on between the militants and the security forces," he said.

Handwara Encounter Ends

Army officials have informed that the encounter in Handwara has ended after it successfully neutralised all terrorists that attacked the Army camp in the morning.

It further revealed that a huge cache of arms, ammunition and medical paraphernalia were also recovered from the three terrorists killed in Handwara.

Three terrorists had started indiscriminate firing at our camp. Our sentries were on high alert and retaliated instantly, gunning them down in the process.

Body of Neutralised Terrorist Recovered From Naugam Sector

Reports reveal that the body of a dead terrorist has been recovered during an ongoing search operation in Naugam sector.

Earlier, the Army had foiled two infiltration bids in the Naugam sector in the intervening night of 5-6 October.

Fresh reports suggest three terrorists have been killed in the retaliatory firing by the Army at their Langate camp in Handwara, where firing was on.

Three AK 47s have been recovered from the militants.

Terrorists Wore Army Combat Uniform

The terrorists attacking the 30 Rashtriya Rifles Camp in Handwara were wearing Army combat uniform, reports ANI.

The Army is currently combing the area for any terrorists that might have escaped.

Firing Resumes Outside 30 RR Camp

Firing has resumed outside the Army camp in Langate in Handwara after a 15-minute stand-off.

"There was firing once again on the camp at 6:30 am as the forces were conducting a search operation," the official said.

He said the operation was on and additional forces have been rushed to the area.

Army troops have started retaliatory fire from sentry posts after initial firing by militants on 30 Rashtriya Rifles camp, reports CNNNews18.

Army Foils Three Infiltration Attempts

The Army on Thursday foiled three infiltration bids assisted by Pakistani posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Three infiltration bids were foiled in two separate sectors on the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir on the intervening night of 5-6 October," an Army official said.

He said while two infiltration bids were foiled in Naugam sector, another such attempt was foiled in Rampur sector.

"The infiltration attempts were assisted by Pakistani posts," the official added.

Initial firing started at 5:30 am. Stand-off fire for about 15 minutes; no casualties reported so far.

After the surgical strikes India carried out in Pakistan, this is the third such attack on an Army camp in recent days.
