Lisa Ray, the Canadian-Indian actress who won the fight against multiple myeloma (a kind of cancer), recently spoke about the experience of fighting with the deadly disease, reports The Indian Express.

According to a report by Dailymail, the actress has been fighting with the condition for the past six years.

After her 2001 debut in Bollywood, according to Dailymail, the actress is planning a 2015 comeback.

On October 19, Ray was speaking at a breast cancer awareness event, when she revealed that she was nervous before making her condition public.

There is a need to spread concentrated awareness about cancer and its treatment. We also have to change people’s perceptions especially towards women who are the heart of the family. Women always put themselves last which is wrong.

Drawing an emotional parallel between her condition and the condition faced by women, Ray made a public appeal to promote positive atmosphere for women.
