Erdogan Wins Turkey's Presidential Poll in First Round: Election Authority

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won a new mandate in presidential elections in the first round of voting by winning more than half of the votes, the chief of Turkey's election authority said on Monday, 25 June.

"President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the absolute majority of all valid votes," the head of the Supreme Election Committee (YSK) Sadi Guven told reporters in Ankara, AFP reported.

Heavy Rain to Continue in Mumbai, Says IMD

‘Heavy’ to ‘very heavy’ rain is likely to continue in Mumbai on 25 June, Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department said. Authorities have also warned of traffic snarls and waterlogging in the city.

Mumbai saw incessant rains with suburban Malad (west) recording the highest amount of rainfall at 110.80 mm between 8:30am and 4:30pm on Sunday, an Indian Meteorological Department official said.

Powai, with 77.80 mm of rainfall, and Mulund (west), with 76 mm rainfall, during the same period stood second and third respectively, the IMD official told PTI.

Seychelles President Meets PM Modi

Seychelles President Danny Faure met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

“The relationship between India and Seychelles is excellent. My presence here is to take this relationship to newer heights,” Faure said.

SC to hear on Tuesday a plea by Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy to implead himself in a fresh petition against an Enforcement Directorate (ED) official probing Aircel-Maxis case.

SC will also hear a contempt plea of ED officer alleging that fresh plea was filed with an intention to scuttle the ongoing Aircel-Maxis probe.

The Delhi High Court told NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited) that the cutting of tress in the National Capital must be put on hold till 2 July, ANI reported.

The next date of hearing in the High Court is 4 July, while, National Green Tribunal will hear the case on 2 July.

IndiGo's Chief Commercial Officer Sanjay Kumar Quits

IndiGo today said its Chief Commercial Officer Sanjay Kumar is leaving the airline and would be replaced by William Boulter, PTI reported.

Kumar, who has been associated with the no-frills carrier for the last 12 years, has put in his papers to pursue other career interests, IndiGo said in a release.

His resignation would be effective from July 15. Boulter, currently the airline's Chief Strategy Officer, would be taking over from him.

"The last 12 years at IndiGo has been the most satisfying and rewarding experience of my career," Kumar said.

IndiGo's Interim CEO Rahul Bhatia said Kumar's contribution has been very significant "in getting us to the level we are today".

VHP Indicates It May Start Ram Mandir Movement

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today indicated it may restart its movement for Ram Temple in Ayodhya, saying the organisation will consult saints on the "future course of action" if the Supreme Court does not give its verdict on the issue in next three to four months, PTI reported.

Addressing the media on the organisation council meeting in Delhi, VHP working president Alok Kumar said two resolutions were passed - one on the issue of cow protection and another on the influx of the Rohingya Muslims into the country.

"We hope that Supreme Court would hear daily this case from July. We want temple at that site... Our Muslim brothers can build mosque outside of that area," he said.

CRPF Forms Motorcycle Squad to Ensure Security During Amarnath Yatra

The CRPF has formed a special motorcycle squad as part of its efforts to ensure foolproof security during the annual Amarnath yatra, scheduled to start in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, an official spokesman said on Monday, PTI reported.

He said some of these specially designed motorcycles were fixed with various life-saving equipment and could also double as "small ambulances", carrying one person at a time besides the rider.

"Keeping in view the convenience and security of pilgrims, the CRPF has prepared a special motorcycle squad, which on one hand, will ensure the security of pilgrims on the yatra route and on the other, will also be used as small ambulances for them," the CRPF spokesperson added.
