A three-storey building collapsed on Wednesday, 1 August, in Kanpur’s Hulaganj. Four people have been rescued, reported ANI. No casualties have been reported yet.

DCW Rescues 39 Girls Trafficked From Nepal

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) rescued 39 girls from a hotel in Paharganj on Tuesday, 31 July night, reported ANI. These girls were reportedly trafficked from Nepal, according to the news agency.

The DCW had earlier rescued 16 girls from Munirka area on 25 July.

Three men were detained in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri after a girl filed a complaint against them alleging she was sexually exploited by 11 men over a period of 8 months, reported ANI.

As the trial of President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort reached its second day on Wednesday, Trump called for an end to a special counsel's probe of Russian meddling in the 2016 US election that spawned the charges.

Manafort's trial is the first under Special Counsel Robert Mueller's 14-month probe. Trump repeatedly has sought to discredit the investigation, which is also looking into any possible unlawful Trump campaign coordination with Moscow.

The Republican president wrote on Twitter, "This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further. Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!"

Noted Ghazal Singer Umbayee Passes Away

Noted ghazal singer and composer from Kerala, Umbayee, passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital at nearby Aluva, where he had been undergoing treatment for some ailments.

He was 68. He is survived by his wife and three children, family sources said.

The singer, who popularised ghazals among the common people in Kerala, had been undergoing treatment for some ailments for the last seven months.

Gas Ballon Bursts at CRPF Event, 27 Injured

At least 27 persons including 14 children were injured when gas balloons burst inside a CRPF camp here in Burdwan West district during a programme, an official of the paramilitary force said.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 pm inside the camp at Amarabati area of the city, CRPF Director General Vinay K Singh said.

He said 27 people including 14 children were injured and they were taken to a private hospital.

The condition of three was stated to be serious, the Singh said.
