19 Jawans Injured in Accident in Srinagar,J&K

19 CRPF jawans were injured after the vehicle they were in skidded off the road in Srinagar on 27 May, reported ANI.

According to the CRPF, the incident took place after stones were pelted on the vehicle.

PM Modi Inaugurates First Phase of Delhi-Meerut Expressway

PM Narendra Modi has inaugurated the first phase of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Following the inauguration, PM Modi set out on a roadshow – that commenced from the Nizamuddin Bridge.

Following the 6-kilometre roadshow, he is scheduled to fly to Baghpat to dedicate the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to the nation.

Pakistan General Elections on 25 July

Pakistan will hold general elections on July 25, a presidential spokesman has said even as the deadlock between ruling PML-N and the opposition persisted over picking up an interim prime minister.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a letter to the president on May 21 had proposed to hold elections for the National Assembly and four provincial assemblies between July 25 and 27.

Pak National Held Trying to Cross Border in Gujarat

A Pakistani national was detained today by the Border Security Force (BSF) when he tried to enter the country through the international border in Gujarat's Kutch district, an official said.

Three SIM cards and two mobile phones were recovered from his possession, the BSF official said.

The man, in his early thirties, identified himself as Raju.

Nipah Virus: 1 more Death Reported in Calicut, Death Toll Rises to 14

The latest victim, Ebin from Palazhi, who was battling the virus in a private hospital in Kozhikode passed away on Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, it was confirmed that the victim had contracted Nipah. He had been in a critical condition for the past 4 days.

Internet services will be restored in Tuticorin from the night of 27 May, Tamil Nadu DGP TK Rajendran said to ANI.

Section 144 was lifted from Tuticorin earlier on 27 May. Internet services which were suspended in Thirunelveli and Kanyakumari were restored on 24 May.

TN Govt Doubles Ex-Gratia Compensation, Victims' Kin to Get Rs 20 Lakh Each

The Tamil Nadu Government doubled the solatium to families of the 13 people killed in police firing last week during anti-Sterlite plant protests, from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

The solatium for those seriously injured has also been increased to Rs five lakh from Rs three lakh and for those with minor injuries, to Rs 1.50 lakh from Rs one lakh.

An official release quoting Chief Minister K Palaniswami said he issued the orders to increase the solatium (from the earlier amounts announced on May 22) after considering requests to the government from various sections and to the Commission of Inquiry probing the violence.
