5 Killed as Truck Overturns in UP's Unnao District

Five persons, including two minors, were killed and two others seriously injured when a sand-laden truck overturned on their car, police said.

The car was on its way to Bangarmau last night when the truck driver, coming from the opposite direction, lost control over the vehicle following which it overturned, killing four members of a family and one other on the spot, they said.

The deceased were identified as Hiralal (40), his wife Nirmala (35), daughter Vaishnavi (11), son Suraj (9) and Sarvan (45). The injured were admitted to a district hospital.

National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah on 23 June said the NDA government's claim that more militants were killed in Kashmir during its rule than in the UPA dispensation actually tells how it allowed militancy and violence to re-emerge in the Valley.

“Actually minister sahib this tells the story of how your government allowed militancy & violence to re-emerge in J&K forcing the security forces to kill more terrorists,” Omar wrote on Twitter.

6 Killed, 8 Injured as MUV Rams into Bus in Nashik

Six people, including five women, were killed and eight others injured on 23 June when the multi-utility vehicle they were travelling in collided with a State Transport bus on the busy Mumbai-Agra Road near Nashik, police said.

The accident happened at around 11 am on Saturday after the tyre of the MUV burst at Shirvada Phata and it rammed into an ST bus coming from the opposite direction, Sanjay Darade, Superintendent of Police said.

The MUV, carrying people who were going to attend a marriage ceremony, was moving towards Nashik from Dhule while the bus was headed towards Satara, the SP said.

The driver lost control of the vehicle after its tyre burst and collided with the ST bus. Six persons died and eight others sustained injuries. The injured have been shifted to a state-run rural hospital nearby.

J&K Guv NN Vohra Reviews Amarnath Yatra Arrangements

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra reviews the arrangements made for the Amarnath Yatra, ANI reported.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the Indian Army and the civil administration conducted a mock drill in Garnai forest area, with a motive to ensure quick relief for pilgrims trapped in landslide or any other natural calamity during upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the report added.

Army Chief Bipin Rawat Visits Kashmir to Review Security Situation

Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat, visited Kashmir to review the prevailing security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) & in the valley, on Saturday, 23 June.

He was accompanied by Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh and Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen AK Bhatt.
