HAL's HTT 40 Begins 'Spin Test' With Two-Turn Spin

Hindustan Aeronatics Limited (HAL) said on Friday, 9 November, the HTT 40 (Basic Trainer Aircraft) began the most awaited phase of the 'spin test’ by successfully entering into a two-turn spin and subsequently recovering with the appropriate controls. The aircraft was piloted by Gp Capt (Retd) KK Venugopal, and Gp Capt S Chaki (Retd).

HAL’s Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC) had conducted extensive wind tunnel testing and mathematical model analyses to arrive at the spin characteristics of the aircraft. The entire study is put to test during those first few moments of spin testing, HAL added.

Reports of Active Shooter at North Carolina School: Sheriff

Authorities in North Carolina have responded to reports of an active shooter at a high school.

Captain James Rowell with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office tells WECT-TV that the scene at Topsail High School remains active, and there were no immediate reports of injuries Friday.

Reports of an active shooter came in around 6:30 a.m. No other details have been released.

Topsail High School is located near the coast in Hampstead, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Wilmington.

“We'll end FY 2018-19 with a fiscal deficit of 3.3 percent. Government has foregone 70000 crore of budgeted market borrowing this year. The only proposal under discussion is to fix RBI's apt economic capital framework,” the DEA Secretary added.

2,714 Killed in US Drone Attacks in Pakistan Since January 2004: Report

The US has carried out a total of 409 drone attacks in Pakistan targeting suspected militants since January 2004, killing 2,714 people and injuring 728 others, a media report said on Friday.

The attacks, carried out by the CIA-operated drones, over the years have targeted the areas of Bajaur, Bannu, Hangu, Khyber, Kurram, Mohmand, North Waziristan, Nushki, Orakzai, and South Waziristan, Dawn reported.

J&K Police SPO Killed, 2 Injured as Vehicle Falls into Gorge

A special police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed while two brothers were seriously injured when a load carrier they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Doda district on Friday morning.

The load carrier, which was on its way to Doda from Gath, skidded off the road as the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve and fell into a 150-feet deep gorge, police said.

At least 171 children from separated families still remain in US custody more than four months after a judge ordered the American government to reunite the undocumented immigrant families it had split up at the border, according to court documents.

The court documents on Thursday, 8 November, said the children who remain in custody, there were seven who were in the pipeline to reunite with their parents in their countries of origin and six who the US government was working to discharge to parents in America, reports CNN.
