10 Wounded as Gunmen Open Fire Outside New Jersey Bar

Authorities said at least two gunmen fired into a crowd outside a bar in New Jersey's capital city, wounding 10 people.

They said two are critically injured adding that the motive for the shooting is unknown.

Mercer County Prosecutor, Angelo Onofri said a vehicle pulled up to the corner outside Ramoneros Liquor and Bar in Trenton and fired more than 30 shots before fleeing.

Five men and five women were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds.

Woman Abducted, Gang-Raped in Rajasthan

A married woman was allegedly abducted and raped by six men in Rajasthan, police said Sunday.

The woman, who was reported missing for over a month, on Saturday filed a complaint against six men -- Vikas Kumar, Rajuram, Deshraj, Balveer, Motaram and Vidhyadhar -- at Ladnu police station in Nagaur district, alleging that she was kidnapped by them and then taken to different places in Sikar and Churu districts where she was raped, they said.

Reports of Deteriorating Health of Jaitley False, Baseless: Govt

The government Sunday said reports on the deteriorating health of outgoing Finance Minister Arun Jaitley are false and baseless, and media should stay clear of rumour mongering, news agency PTI reported.

Amid speculations on the state of Jaitley's health, government spokesperson Sitanshu Kar took to Twitter to clear the air.

"Reports in a section of media regarding Union Minister Shri Arun Jaitley's health condition are false and baseless. Media is advised to stay clear of rumour mongering," he tweeted.

While Jaitley remained unreachable despite several attempts, his office said he is resting at home.

Sources aware of his condition had on Friday stated that Jaitley is unlikely to be part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet in the BJP government's second term due to his ill health, which may require him to travel to either the UK or the US for treatment.

Three Killed After Pak MPs-Led Group Attacks Army Check Post

At least three persons were killed and 15 others, including five soldiers, injured as members from the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, led by two MPs, allegedly attacked an army check post in Pakistan's restive North Waziristan region on Sunday, reported news agency PTI.

MPs Ali Wazir and Mohsin Javed attacked the Kharqamar check post in North Waziristan tribal district.

“Due to firing of the group, five army soldiers got injured. In exchange of fire, three individuals who attacked the post lost their lives and 10 others got injured,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani military's media wing, said.

Monsoon Progress Hindered

Unfavourable cross-equatorial flow over the Arabian Sea that aids in the progress of the monsoon is one of the reasons for its delay, the national weather agency said on Sunday, news agency PTI reported.

Monsoon reached the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on May 18. But it is yet to cover the entire region, the India Metrological Department said.

Conditions are likely to become favourable for the movement of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Islands and north Andaman Sea during Wednesday-Thursday, the IMD said.

Murder Accused Evading Arrest for 9 Years Held in Jammu

Murder accused Jarnail Singh who was evading arrest for nine years was arrested in Jammu, while a differently abled boy was reunited with his family in separate incidents, police said on Sunday, 26 May, reported PTI.

Singh was wanted in connection with an FIR registered against him under various sections of Ranbir Penal Code including murder and criminal conspiracy, a police officer said.

Meanwhile, the 13-year-old differently abled boy, had gone missing from his home in Bachyal on 20 May and a complaint was lodged by his father Jagga Ram at the Kanachak police station on 22 May, the officer said.

AMMK Functionary Hacked to Death by Gang

An AMMK functionary was hacked to death by an unidentified gang in Tamil Nadu’s Sivaganga district on Sunday, 26 May, police said, reported PTI.

Saravanan, AMMK's Manamadurai West Union Secretary was murdered when he went for his morning walk. The police further said that the motive behind the crime, as of now, is unknown.

Several party cadres staged a demonstration near the government hospital demanding the arrest of those involved in the murder and refused to accept the body. District Superintendent of Police Jayachandran held talks with the protesters and assured that action will be taken, following which they dispersed.

Five Dead, Eight Wounded by Car Bomb in Iraq

As per Iraq's military, a car bomb has killed five people and wounded eight in a northwestern village near the Syrian border, reported The Associated Press.

A military statement said that the car was parked near a market in the village of Oweinat in Nineveh province. The area was once held by the Islamic State group that controlled large parts of Iraq and Syria.

Local Train Derails in Mumbai

Suburban train services of the Central Railway (CR) were affected in Mumbai on Sunday evening after a coach of a Kalyan-CSMT local train derailed between Vidyaviharand Kurla stations, an official said.

Before the derailment, a short circuit was spotted in a ladies compartment around 7 pm when the train was approaching Vidyavihar on the slow track, the official added.

Nobel-Winning Physicist Murray Gell-Man Dies at 89

Murray Gell-Mann, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist who brought order to the universe by helping discover and classify subatomic particles, has died at the age of 89.

His death was confirmed by the Santa Fe Institute, where he held the title of distinguished fellow, and the California Institute of Technology, where he taught for decades. The cause of death was not disclosed.
