Two militants were gunned down by Jammu and Kashmir police in Rebben area of Zainapora in District Shopian after a cordon and a search operation was launched in the wee hours of Sunday, 18 November.
Based on a credible input about the presence of militants, a cordon and search operation was launched by police and security forces, reported ANI.
“As search operation was going on, search party was fired upon by the hiding militants. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, 2 militants were killed and bodies were retrieved from site of encounter. Identities are being ascertained,” said an official from Jammu and Kashmir police, reported ANI.
According to the officials, incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter.
