JeM Militant Killed in Handwara Shootout: Police

A Jaish-e-Muhammad militant from Pakistan was killed in a brief shootout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara area on Sunday, 11 November, the police said.

According to a police official, a routine joint naka was laid by the police, army and Central Reserve Police Force in Chottipora area, near the Handwara-Baramulla bypass, when a car was intercepted “after noticing some suspicious movement.”

AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has claimed that his life is under threat and alleged that 11 people from different parts of the country had arrived in Hyderabad to "kill" him.

Army Soldier Killed by Pakistani Sniper Along LoC in J&K

An Army soldier was killed on Sunday, 11 November, by a Pakistani sniper along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said, the third fatal casualty due to sniping from across the border in three days.

The soldier, manning a forward post in Kalal area of Noushera sector, was shot by a Pakistani sniper, resulting in his death, they said.

Naik Gosavi Keshav Somgir (29), belonged to village Sri Rampur of Nashik district of Maharashtra, a defence spokesman said. Somgir is survived by wife Yashoda Gosavi.

Fresh Spell of Rains, Snow Brews Trouble for Kashmir

Several roads were closed in Kashmir following fresh snowfall on Sunday, 11 November.

The Mughal Road connecting Kashmir with Poonch via Shopian district in southern Kashmir was closed for traffic following fresh snowfall along the thoroughfare.

The snowfall aligned with with predictions by the local meteorological department of rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir for next three days.

According to the Superintendent of traffic police (rural) Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, Mughal Road was closed after fresh snowfall at Pir-ki-Gali and some other places.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rushed back to Israel on Monday, hours after an Israeli army officer and seven Palestinians, including a local Hamas commander, were killed after an incursion by Israeli special forces into the Gaza Strip.
