Saudi Arabia has rejected as "interference" a US Senate resolution to end American military support for a Riyadh-led war in Yemen, and another holding its crown prince responsible for the murder of critic Jamal Khashoggi.
"The kingdom condemns the latest position of the US Senate that was based on unsubstantiated allegations and rejects the blatant interference in its internal affairs," the foreign ministry said in a statement released by the official Saudi Press Agency.

A woman was killed and her 12-year-old son injured after a gas cylinder exploded at Aldi village in Muzaffarnagar, police said Monday, 17 December.
The incident took place Sunday when Anita (30) was preparing lunch. The child is undergoing treatment at a local hospital, they said.
Police said Anita was declared brought dead by doctors.

Two children were killed and three others injured after a wall of a school building collapsed on them in a village on Monday, police said.
The incident took place around 10 am at a private primary school in Salarpur village under Sector 49 police station limits, they said.
"Two children have died, while three others were injured in the incident," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ajay Pal Sharma said.

Two days after a local court revoked his bail in a case related to violent protests at Sabarimala, Ayyappa Dharma Sena leader Rahul Easwar was arrested by police Monday.
A team of police personnel took Easwar into custody from a rest house here, recorded his arrest and then took him to Ranni in Pathanamthitta for producing him before a court, police said.

The Centre approved release of additional assistance of Rs 1,292 crore to Odisha and Tripura, which were hit by cyclone and floods respectively.
In a statement, the Home Ministry said the additional assistance of Rs 1,023.59 crore will be released to Odisha, which was affected by cyclone Titli early this year, and Rs 268.63 crore to Tripura, hit by floods and landslides during monsoon.

Two people were detained on Monday, 17 December, after unaccounted cash worth Rs 50 lakh was recovered from their car in Rajasthan's Ajmer district, police said.
In a joint operation, police and the Anti-Terrorist Squad personnel stopped the car going towards Beawar city from Bheem town and found the cash in the vehicle during an inspection, Jawaja police station SHO Lakshman Singh said.

Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan on Monday, 17 December, said procedures for the auction of 5G spectrum are likely to be completed by August 2019.

French anti-terrorist officials said on Monday, 17 December that they would shortly file charges against a man arrested in connection with the mass shooting at a Christmas market in Strasbourg last week.
The 37-year-old, who was not immediately identified, was detained on Thursday, 13 December.
He is suspected of helping to provide the pistol used by Cherif Chekatt, a career criminal who shot dead five people and wounded 11 at the market last Tuesday night, judicial sources said.

The Air Force flew its first military flight, an AN-32 transporter aircraft, using blended bio-jet fuel in Bengaluru on Monday, 17 December, a statement said.
The Experimental Test Pilots and Test Engineer from Air Force's testing establishment ASTE, flew the aircraft in a combined effort with DRDO, Directorate General Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) and CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum.

The BJP has declared total income of Rs 1,027 crore and expenditure of Rs 758 crore (74 per cent) during financial year 2017-18, while the Congress has not yet submitted its audited reports to the Election Commission (EC), as per a report issued on Monday, 17 December.
The report was prepared by NGO Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) after analysing the total income and expenditure incurred by the seven national parties as declared in their Income Tax Returns submitted to the EC.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police arrested one more accused in alleged Rs 126-crore land fraud case linked to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), officials said.
Satendra, a native of Bulandshahr, was arrested from Modinagar in Ghaziabad for alleged fraud and corruption in the land deal, a senior police officer said.
His arrest comes close on the heels of the arrest of two directors of Data Infrastructure – Ramesh Bansal and Satendra Chauhan – which is a key firm named in the FIR over the land fraud.

Normal life was affected in Manipur on Monday, 17 December by a 24-hour general strike called by the Maoist Communists Party, Manipur (MCPM) demanding renaming of Manipur.
The organisation, however, did not provide any specific name.
