Locals blocked a highway and pelted stones at police in Chhapra, Jhansi demanding compensation for 2 workers who had lost their lives in a blast at a mine earlier.

Boeing Wanted to Wait 3 Years to Fix Safety Alert on 737 Max

Boeing planned to wait three years to fix a non-working safety alert on its 737 Max aircraft and sped up the process only after the first of two deadly crashes involving the planes.

The company acknowledged that it originally planned to fix a cockpit warning light in 2020 after two key lawmakers disclosed the company's timetable on Friday.

US Reps. Peter DeFazio of Oregon and Rick Larsen of Washington wrote to Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration and asked why the company took more than a year to tell the safety agency and airlines that the alert did not work on Max jets.

25 New Ministers Inducted Into Jagan's Cabinet in AP

In what the YSR Congress called a "socially-inclusive Cabinet," 25 new ministers were Saturday inducted into the Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's Council of Ministers in Andhra Pradesh.

In line with his electoral promise, Jaganmohan Reddy gave Cabinet berths to seven legislators from the backward classes, five from the Scheduled Castes, one each from the Scheduled Tribes and Muslims, and four each from the Kapu and the Reddy communities.

US Approves Sale of Armed Drones, Offers Missile Defense Systems to India

The Trump administration has approved the sale of armed drones to India and has offered integrated air and missile defence systems aimed at helping the country boost its military capabilities and protect shared security interests in the strategically important Indo-Pacific region.

The approval-cum-offer from the US came in the aftermath of the February 14 Pulwama terrorist attack in which 40 Indian soldiers were killed and the increasing militarisation and assertiveness of China in the Indo-Pacific ocean.

According to the officials, the Trump administration is ready to offer its best defence technologies to India.

25 IPS Officers Transferred in UP

In a first major reshuffle in the police department after the Lok Sabha polls, the Uttar Pradesh government transferred 25 IPS officers, including police chiefs of Ayodhaya, Agra, Mathura and Rampur.

According to the transfer list released by Principal Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar late Friday night, Agra SSP Amit Pathak has been shifted to Moradabad, replacing J Ravindra Kumar, who was transferred to Lucknow as the DIG (SIT).

Ranchi to Host Main Event on Yoga Day, PM to Attend

Jharkhand capital Ranchi will be the venue for the main event for International Yoga Day on 21 June and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend it, AYUSH Ministry officials said on Saturday, 8 June. The event will be held at the Prabhat Tara ground and around 30,000 people are expected to participate in it, they said.

On 13 June, there will be a curtain raiser to the main event in Ranchi and it will be attended by several state dignitaries, besides yoga organisations and instructors. The ministry, which is the nodal body to oversee the annual celebrations, has organised several programmes since the inception of yoga day in 2015.
