Pentagon Sends Flight Over Ukraine Following Russian Naval Incident
A US Air Force observation plane flew over Ukraine on Thursday, 6 December, in a mission to show US support for Kiev following Russia's seizure of three Ukrainian naval vessels in the Sea of Azov, officials said.
The 25 November confrontation was the first open military incident between Kiev and Moscow since 2014 when Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula and a conflict erupted in eastern Ukraine.

Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai Among CEOs Invited by White House
Satya Nadella from Microsoft and Sundar Pichai from Google were among a select group of CEOs invited by the White House for a technology summit as part of the Trump Administration's move to ease its relationship with the Silicon Valley, which thus far has remained tensed.
"We had a productive and engaging discussion at the White House today about America's leadership in emerging technologies," Pichai was quoted as saying by The Wall Street Journal.
US President Donald Trump made a brief appearance at the summit organised by his daughter Ivanka Trump. Ginni Rometty (IBM) Safra Catz (Oracle) and Steve Mollenkopf (Qualcomm) were among those who attended the White House Tech Summit.
US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and former secretary of state Henry Kissinger also attended the summit which was themed "Industries of the Future".
he tech summit was intended to be a listening session for tech leaders to share policy ideas, a senior administration official said.

Voting is underway in Rajasthan and Telangana for the Assembly elections. The voting began early morning on Friday, 7 December.
The election in Rajasthan is being seen as a bipolar contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

Hitting out at the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday said people with "big surnames" ruled the country but India could not prosper despite having the best talent and natural resources.

All Clear After Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation of CNN Offices
Police have given the all-clear after a phoned in bomb threat forced the evacuation of CNN’s offices in New York.
Police said a man with a southern accent called CNN just after 10 pm Thursday, 7 December, and said five bombs had been placed throughout the facility inside the Time Warner building at Columbus Circle.
Police said the building was evacuated and building security did a preliminary search. Police units then swept the building with the NYPD bomb squad on standby.

India has strongly criticized the UN for its failure to show resolve in sanctioning new Taliban leaders who continue to perpetrate violence and destruction in Afghanistan and aided by those harboured in safe havens in its neighbourhood, a veiled reference to Pakistan.
Counsellor in India's Permanent Mission to the UN Eenam Gambhir said at a UN General Assembly debate on the situation in Afghanistan it is clear that the terrorists who plan attacks against Afghanistan are not interested in peace.
"The goalposts for them have changed. The terrorists and their supporters have now set up industries amongst them of narcotics and illegal mining in the territories they control stealing the resources of the Afghan people and to fund more violence and terrorism," she said.

Congress MP Maulana Asrarul Haq Qasmi Dies Kishanganj
Congress MP and Islamic cleric Maulana Asrarul Haq Qasmi died of a heart attack at his village home in Kishanganj district on Friday, family members said.
He was 76 and is survived by two sons and three daughters.
A former state president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hindi and member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Qasmi had won the Kishanganj seat for the first time in 2009 Lok Sabha polls and went on to retain the seat five years later.

Goa Mining Group to Stage 'Dharna' at Jantar Mantar on 13 Dec
Nearly 1,000 members of Goa Mining People's Front (GMPF) will stage a 'dharna' at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on 13 December to protest against the closure of mining operations in the state.
"The protest is against the closure of mining operations in Goa, on which about two lakh people were dependent," GMPF President Puti Gaonkar told PTI over phone.
The Supreme Court in February quashed the second renewal of iron ore mining leases given to 88 companies in Goa. Mining operations stopped from March.
About 1,000 people associated with Goan mining industry will stage a day-long dharna on 13 December at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, he said.

384 Tigers Killed in India in Last 10 Years, Reveals RTI
A total of 384 tigers have been killed by poachers across the country in the last ten years, which translates to over three a month, a reply under the Right to Information has revealed.
Between 2008 and 2018 (till November), 961 persons have also been arrested for allegedly poaching tigers, it said.
The information was given by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau or WCCB in response to a Right to Information (RTI) query filed by Noida-based advocate Ranjan Tomar.

Sabarimala Protests: BJP Leader Surendran Gets Bail
