The Islamic State (IS) jihadist group was "resurging" in Syria while the United States withdrew troops, and has solidified its insurgent capabilities in neighboring Iraq, a Defense Department watchdog said Tuesday.
The jihadists -- who suffered major territorial losses at the hands of Iraqi and Syrian forces backed by a US-led international air campaign -- are exploiting weaknesses in local forces to make gains, the report from the Office of Inspector General said.

North Korea said on Wednesday, 7 August, a live-fire demonstration of newly developed, short-range ballistic missiles supervised by leader Kim Jong Un, was intended to send a warning to the United States and South Korea over their joint military exercises.
The official Korean Central News Agency said two missiles launched from a western airfield flew across the country and over the area surrounding the capital, Pyongyang, before accurately hitting an island target off its eastern coast.

The RBI has decided to cover all repetitive bill payments under the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) and a detailed guideline in this regard will be issued by September-end.
Currently, repetitive bill payments cover five segments -- direct-to-home, electricity, gas, telecom and water bills under the BBPS -- which is an inter-operable platform.
"In order to leverage the advantages of the BBPS and harness its full potential, it has been decided to permit all categories of billers (except prepaid recharges) who provide for recurring bill payments to participate in BBPS on a voluntary basis," the RBI said in 'Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies' post the monetary policy review.
