13-Year-Old Allegedly Gang-Raped by Six in Haryana

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by 6 men. According to the police officials, a case has been registered. “We have sent the victim for medical tests. Action will be taken against the culprits. Further investigation is underway,” ANI reported.

5 Dead, 6 Injured After a Wall Collapsed in Narayanpur

Five people died and six injured after a wall collapsed in Narayanpur, Soonda. Sanjay Singh, Additional District Magistrate said, “injured are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The process of providing compensation to the family members of the deceased is underway,” ANI reported.

Two Killed After Boat Capsizes in Brahmaputra, 23 Rescued

Two people were killed as a boat carrying approximately 50 passengers capsized in the Brahmaputra river in North Guwahati near the Aswaklanta Temple on Wednesday, 5 September, reports said.

Twenty-three people have been rescued so far. According to reports, there were several women and children among the passengers onboard.

One Intruder Shot Dead Near Line of Control in Lam Sector

Two intruders were caught near the Line of Control in Lam sector today, ANI reported.

“One of the intruders was shot dead by the Army when he challenged them. The body of the intruder will be handed over to Pakistan at Chakan Da Bagh crossing point after postmortem,” Rajouri SSP Yougal Manhas said to ANI.

Twitter India Head Quits, Balaji Krish Interim Chief

Taranjeet Singh, who was elevated as Twitter's Country Director for India in May 2017, has decided to move on and Balaji Krish, Global Head of Revenue Operations and Strategy at Twitter will be the interim Country Lead, the company said, IANS reported.

Over the next month, Singh will ensure a smooth transition to Krish who will be coming from the US to be interim country lead while Twitter searches for Singh's replacement in India, the report added.

Farmer's Rally in Delhi Begins Today

The Mazdoor Kisan Sangharsh started a rally towards Parliament from Ramlila Maidan on Wednesday, 5 September, ANI reported.

The rally is being organised by Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and All India Agriculture Workers Union (AIAWU), demanding debt waivers for farmers among others.

Sensex, Nifty Open Flat; Metals Fall, Drugmakers Rise

Indian equity benchmarks edged higher led by gains in pharma shares. However, the gains were capped due to weakness in metal and banking stocks.

The S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex rose 0.2 percent to 38,242 and the NSE Nifty 50 index rose 0.14 percent to 11,537.

Sixteen of 19 sector gauges compiled by BSE were trading lower led by the S&P BSE Metal index's 1 percent drop. On the flipside, the S&P BSE Healthcare index was top gainer, up 0.6 percent.

Mid and small-cap shares were underperforming their larger peers, as the S&P BSE MidCap index fell 0.3 percent and the S&P BSE SmallCap index declined 0.25 percent.

Building Collapses in Lucknow

A part of a two-storey dilapidated building collapsed in Lucknow's Golaganj area on Wednesday, 5 September. The collapse of the building, located near the Gulab Cinema, ended up damaging a car. A team of the municipality is present at the spot, and the remaining portion of the building will now be demolished, ANI reported.
