Authorities say an intoxicated woman driving the wrong way on a San Francisco highway crashed into a cab carrying two passengers, killing everyone.

The California Highway Patrol says the collision happened about 12:30 am on Thursday, just minutes after people started calling authorities to report a Volkswagen sedan driving south in the northbound lanes of Highway 101.

2 Pilots Among 7 Killed in B-17 Crash in Connecticut, US

A pilot with more than 7,000 hours of experience flying a B-17 and his co-pilot were among seven people killed when the bomber crashed and burned at a Connecticut airport, officials said Thursday.

Pilot Ernest McCauley, 75, of Long Beach, California, had flown for over 20 years with the educational group that owned the World War II-era plane and was also its safety officer, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

10 Arrested for Assault on Sanskrit College Student

Ten persons were arrested in Burdwan for alleged assault on Debanjan Ballav, a Sanskrit college student who was accused of heckling Union minister Babul Supriyo at Jadavpur University on 19 September.

4 Private Schools Face Action Over Fees, Books in Noida

Four private schools here on Friday were penalised for violating law related to regulation of fees and availability of books, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration said.

The action was taken by the District Fees Regulatory Committee, chaired by District Magistrate B N Singh, under the Uttar Pradesh Self-Financed Independent Schools (Fee Regulation) Act, 2018, it said.

Modern School, Ryan International and Ramagya School were slapped a penalty of Rs 50,000 each, while Billabong School was penalised Rs 25,000 by the committee, an administration spokesperson said.

Ukraine's prosecutor-general said Friday he would review cases related to a gas firm where Joe Biden's son used to work, after US President Donald Trump pushed his Ukrainian counterpart to look into the issue.

Trump's request that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky probe the activities of Hunter and Joe Biden, the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential candidacy, has sparked an impeachment probe in the US.

Prosecutor-General Ruslan Ryaboshapka told reporters his office would revisit about 15 cases but stressed that they were not necessarily connected to Biden's son, Hunter Biden.

26-Year-Old Killed After Being Hit by Tanker in New Delhi

A 26-year-old man was killed after he was hit allegedly by a tanker in northwest Delhi's Netaji Subhash Place area, police said.
Parul Singh, who belonged from Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh, was walking towards Outer Ring Road when he was hit by a speeding tanker on Thursday.

Policeman Fires at Wife, Shoots Self Dead Later in Punjab

A Punjab Armed Police (PAP) ASI shot himself dead with his service pistol after opening fire at his wife, police said.
ASI Baljit Singh (48), a resident of Mishriwala Village in this border district, was presently posted in the excise department at Talwandi Bhai on deputation, they said.
Police said the relation between Baljit and his wife Charanjeet Kaur (44) had turned sour for the last few months. A few days back, Charanjeet had left home and went to her parents at Kaliawala village, they said.

Former NCP MP Sanjay Patil Joins Sena

Former Lok Sabha MP and NCP leader Sanjay Dina Patil joined the Shiv Sena in the presence of its chief Uddhav Thackeray.

Patil was Mumbai North East Lok Sabha MP in 2009 before being defeated in the 2014 and 2019 general elections by the BJP's Kirit Somaiya and Manoj Kotak respectively.

Patil follows NCP colleagues Sachin Ahir and MLA Dilip Sopal who had joined the Sena a few weeks earlier.

85 One Stop Centres Established Across 12 States in Last 100 Days: Smriti Irani

The government has established 85 One Stop Centres, which provide assistance to women affected by violence, across 12 states in the last 100 days and it is ‘proactively’ working towards building one such unit in every district, said WCD Minister Smriti Irani.

In her tweet she thanked the chief ministers in all these 12 states for assisting the Women and Child Development Ministry in establishing these centres.

5 Dead in Wall Collapse in Ambala

Five persons, including three children, were killed when they got buried under the debris of a wall when it collapsed on them at Ambala cantonment late Friday night, police said.

As per preliminary information, the deceased were said to be labourers and their children. Police said the victims were sleeping when the wall all of a sudden collapsed.

After receiving information, the Fire Department personnel and police rushed there, they said. The five victims were to taken to a hospital where they were declared as brought dead, police said.

The matter was under investigation, they said.
