Indians Studying in a Fraudulent US University Arrested

In multiple raids in the past two days, federal authorities have arrested a number of Indian nationals, enrolled as students in an alleged fraudulent university in Metro Detroit area and working across the country.

The students now face probable deportation.

The arrests followed by raids were carried out by officials of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in various cities across the US: Columbus in Ohio, Houston in Texas, Atlanta in Georgia, St Louis in Missouri, New York and New Jersey.

The hackers have asked for booking of the leader under sedition for shooting the effigy.

Don’t Take Issue of Political Advertising on Social Media Lightly: HC to ECI

The Bombay High Court has cautioned the Election Commission of India (ECI) today against taking the issue of paid political content on social media "lightly".

A division bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Justice N M Jamdar noted that despite its order, the ECI had failed to send an officer to answer queries posed by the court.

The bench also directed the Election Commission and social media giant Facebook to file their replies by February 4.

GST Collections Top Rs 1 Lakh Crore in January

GST collections in January crossed Rs 1 lakh crore-mark after a gap of two months, the Finance Ministry said on Thursday, 31 January.

"The total gross GST Revenue collected in the month of January, 2019 has today crossed Rs 1 lakh crore. This has been a significant improvement over collection of Rs 94,725 crore during last month and Rs 89,825 crore during the same month last year," the ministry tweeted.

Three Die Due to Swine Flu in Rajasthan

Three deaths due to swine flu and 78 positive cases were reported in Rajasthan on Thursday. There have been a total of 79 deaths due to swine flu and over 2,123 positive cases have been reported from across the state between 1 January to 31 January.

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, 12 deaths due to swine flu and 97 positive cases have been reported in the month of January, said Dr Pradeep Awate, the health surveillance officer.
