Home Minister Rajnath Singh, on 31 August, said that data on Other Backward Class for the first time will be collected in the upcoming census of 2021, ANI reported.
The announcement came after Singh was reviewing the functioning of the Office of Registrar General and Census Commissioner in New Delhi.
“The Home Minister discussed the road map for undertaking census in 2021 and emphasised that improvements in design and technological interventions will be made to ensure census data is finalised within three years after conducting of census,” ANI reported.
Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijiju, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, and other senior officers were also present in the meeting, ANI added.
