A poor family from Maharashtra's Nashik district has allegedly disposed of the body of a 2-day-old infant in a plastic bag instead of carrying out the last rites as per traditional norms, police said Sunday.
The incident came to light Saturday when the body of the infant popped out after scavenging dogs pulled out a plastic bag from a garbage dump near the canteen of Nashik civil hospital, police informed.
They said that people who saw the incident alerted hospital staff who reached the spot and retrieved the body of the infant.

Price of CNG have increased by Rs 1.70 per kg in Delhi and Rs 1.95 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The price in Rewari has gone up by Rs 1.80 per kg. The new consumer price would be effective from midnight of 30 September - 1 October, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) said on Sunday, 30 September.
This makes the new consumer price of CNG Rs. 44.30 per kg in Delhi and Rs. 51.25 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The price of CNG in Rewari will be Rs. 54.05 per kg.

A man in Karnataka killed his friend by chopping his head off after the friend allegedly tried to sexually assault his mother. The man was identified by NDTV as Pashupati and his friend as Girish. After the incident, Pashupati brought Girish's severed head to a police station and surrendered.

A man has been arrested in Delhi for allegedly kidnapping his employer's three-year-old son to recover his due from the latter, police said on Sunday.
A case was registered by the boy's father on Saturday, alleging that his friend who stayed back at his house a day before the incident, allegedly took his son without informing them. The complainant stated that he received a ransom call of Rs 7 lakh for the safe release of his son, said Chinmoy Biswal, deputy commissioner of police (southeast).
