Dense Fog Engulfs Delhi-NCR, Flight Operations Affected

Dense fog engulfed Delhi-NCR on Monday morning, a day after a minimum temperature of 2.5°C was recorded in the national capital.

The Delhi airport said that flight operations have been affected due to bad weather. “CAT III B compliant aircraft and pilots are currently able to land. Passengers are requested to stay in touch with the airline concerned for updated flight information,” it said.

The city has been reeling under the longest cold spell of the last 22 years.

US Civil Rights Icon John Lewis Announces Cancer Diagnosis

Civil rights icon and US House Representative John Lewis has announced that he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.

The diagnosis followed a "routine medical visit," Lewis, a 79-year-old Democrat who has repeatedly sparred with President Donald Trump, said in a statement on Sunday, adding that he would seek treatment while continuing to represent his Georgia district.

Diesel is at Rs 67.78 per litre and petrol at Rs 75.04 per litre in Delhi.

Indian Navy Bans Use of Facebook by Personnel

Indian Navy has banned the use of Facebook by naval personnel. It has also banned smart phones at naval bases, dockyards and on-board warships.

The “stringent” step has been taken by the force soon after seven naval personnel were caught leaking sensitive information to enemy intelligence agencies over social media.

The United States military said it killed four "terrorists" in airstrikes against the Al-Shabaab militant group in Somalia on Sunday, a day after the country's deadliest attack in two years.

US Africa Command (AFRICOM) conducted three airstrikes in two locations in the conflict-hit east African nation on Sunday targeting Al-Shabaab militants, it said in a statement.

A gunmen pulled out a shotgun and opened fire on worshippers at a church during Sunday service in Texas, killing two persons before being fatally shot by an armed members of the congregation, the authorities said.

The shooting took place at about 11:50 am (local time), during the morning service on Sunday. The service was being live-streamed on social media.

Maharashtra: Two Held for Robbing, Killing Senior Citizen

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of a 63-year-old woman and robbery at her home in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said on Monday.

The victim, Manisha Domble, was stabbed to death on Friday at her home in Virar town by some unidentified persons who decamped with valuables worth Rs 7.29 lakh, including gold and silver jewellery and Rs 20,000 cash, police spokesman Hemant Katkar said.

The woman, who resided with her husband and children, was alone at the time of the incident, he said.

During the probe, the police zeroed-in on two suspects - Yesh Indvatkar (18) and Vinay Dhoneti (19) - and arrested them on Sunday, he said.

Search was underway for the third accused, Vinod Padvi, who fled with the booty, the official said.

Delhi is likely to experience its coldest day in December in 119 years on Monday with the day temperature recording 9.4 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department said.

The temperature recorded by the Safdurjung laboratory at 2:30 pm was 9.4 degrees Celsius.

"Delhi likely to record most coldest day today in last 119 year for Dec Month as day temp till 1430 IST of today has been unusually (cold) following a coldest trend with Safdarjung at 1430 IST has 09.4degC," the IMD tweeted.
