US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday he wants to build a global coalition against Iran during urgent consultations in the Middle East, following a week of crisis that saw the United States pull back from the brink of a military strike on Iran.
Pompeo spoke as he left Washington for Saudi Arabia, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Sunni Arab allies that are alarmed by Shiite Iran's increasing assertiveness and are working to its influence in the region.
Bolstering her attack against the Samajwadi Party, BSP chief Mayawati on Sunday, 23 June, alleged that Dalit atrocities during the SP’s rule in Uttar Pradesh cost the alliance in the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a rally, she reportedly said: “Atrocities were committed against Dalits when SP was in power in UP. This also caused a dismal performance in the Lok Sabha election.”

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit Papua, in eastern Indonesia, on Monday, US seismologists said, but no tsunami warning was issued.
The quake hit about 240 kilometres west of the town of Abepura in Papua province at 10:05 am local time, at a depth of 21 kilometres, according to the US Geological Survey.
There were no immediate reports of casualties after the earthquake.
A shallower 6.3-magnitude hit the area last week, but the damage was not extensive.
Indonesia experiences frequent seismic and volcanic activity due to its position on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where tectonic plates collide.
Last year, a 7.5-magnitude quake and a subsequent tsunami in Palu on Sulawesi island killed more than 2,200 with a thousand more declared missing.
On December 26, 2004, a 9.1-magnitude earthquake struck Aceh province, causing a tsunami and killing more than 170,000.

At least 14 people drowned when the vehicle they were travelling in veered off a mountainous road and fell into the Indus River in northwest Pakistan.
The incident happened on Sunday in the Shalkan Abad area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Kolai Palas Kohistan when the vehicle, carrying 21 people, veered off the mountainous road and fell into the Indus river, police said.
"Due to bad condition of the roads, the vehicle fell into Indus River," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by the Dawn newspaper.

Maharashtra School Education Minister Ashish Shelar on Monday said the state government will prepare a robust system to reimburse fees directly into the bank accounts of students hailing from drought-hit areas.
Speaking in the state Assembly during the Question Hour, Shelar said the bank details of students along with their village and revenue code would be collected and whenever a drought condition is declared, the fees amount would be reimbursed directly into their accounts.
Apart from the fees for written examinations, charges for practical tests will also be waived, he said.
