Strong 6.1-Magnitude Earthquake Rocks NE India: USGS
A strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh early Wednesday, the US Geological Survey said.
The epicenter of the shallow quake was about 40 kilometres (25 miles) southeast of Along, and 180 kilometres southwest of the state capital Itanagar.
It struck at 1.45 am (2015 GMT Tuesday).

India to Stop Importing Crude Oil from Iran, Says Report
India will stop importing crude oil from Iran following the US move to end sanction waivers, and will use alternate supply sources such as Saudi Arabia to make up for the lost volumes, top officials and industry sources said Tuesday.
The Trump administration Monday decided not to renew waiver that let countries like India buy Iranian oil without facing US sanctions.
"Until the waivers are not restored back, I don't think India can buy oil from Iran. We will stop importing oil from Iran," a top official said.
Congress Hits out at Modi Govt Over US Decision to End Iran Oil Waivers
The Congress on Tuesday hit out at the government over the US decision of not renewing its waiver that let countries like India buy Iranian oil without facing sanctions, saying it is a "diplomatic and economic failure" of the Modi administration.
The opposition party also alleged that Prime Minister Modi has directed oil companies not to increase the prices of petrol and diesel till 23 May so that he can "garner votes".

Jet Airways Shares Halt 3-Day Slide, Zoom 13%
Shares of Jet Airways (India) Limited halted their three-day decline and surged 13 percent on Tuesday due to value buying at lower levels.
The scrip, after a positive opening, jumped 11.57 percent to Rs 172.50 on the BSE. At the NSE, shares zoomed 13 per cent to Rs 174.95. In the past three days, the scrip had plummeted 40.94 per cent.
Running into debt of more than Rs 8,500 crore, Jet Airways shut down operations temporarily after lenders decided against extending emergency funds for its survival.

ICICI-Videocon Case: ED Summons Chanda Kochhar, Husband
The ED has summoned former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar next week to Delhi in connection with a money laundering case related to a bank loan fraud, officials said.
While Chanda has been summoned for 3 May, Deepak and his brother Rajiv have been asked to depose on April 30 before the investigating officer of the case and record their statements under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

New IRA Admits Responsibility for Killing North Ireland Journalist
Dissident republican group the New IRA on Tuesday admitted responsibility for killing Northern Irish journalist Lyra McKee during rioting in Londonderry last week, in a statement to The Irish News.
The New IRA "offer our full and sincere apologies to the partner, family and friends of Lyra McKee for her death", it said in a statement reported by the Irish newspaper, which said the paramilitary group used a recognised codeword.
McKee, 29, was shot in the head late Thursday as dissident republicans clashed with police in the Creggan housing estate in Northern Ireland's second city, also known as Derry.

Frantic Hunt for Survivors After Powerful Quake Rocks Philippines
Philippine rescuers were scrambling on Tuesday to reach dozens of people feared buried under a building near Manila that collapsed a day earlier in a powerful earthquake, as the death toll climbed to 11.
The 6.3 magnitude quake struck northwest of the capital on Monday, scientists from the US Geological Survey said, heavily damaging an airport and sending terrified locals fleeing swaying high-rises.

Facebook Hires High-Ranking US State Department Lawyer
Facebook said that it has hired a high-ranking US State Department lawyer credited with helping craft the controversial Patriot Act as the social network's new general counsel.
Jennifer Newstead will replace Colin Stretch, who announced in July that he planned to leave Facebook.
Newstead will oversee global legal functions at the California-based social network as it faces continued pressure from regulators regarding how well it safeguards user privacy and protects against the spread of misinformation or abuse on its platform.

Colombia Mudslide Death Toll Rises to 20
Rescue authorities have said that the number of dead from Sunday's mudslide in southwestern Colombia has risen to at least 20.
The bodies of two adults and a child were found during a rescue operation on Monday in Rosas, in the department of Cauca, where 17 people were pronounced dead on Sunday, Colombia's risk and disaster agency (UNGRD) said on its Twitter account.
Another 10 people are still unaccounted for and hopes of finding them alive are reducing, a UNGRD source told AFP.
