Fuel Prices Decrease, Petrol at Rs 81.44/litre in Delhi

Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai saw a further decrease on Monday. Petrol and diesel prices in Delhi were Rs 81.44 per litre (decrease of Rs 0.30) and Rs 74.92 per litre (decrease of Rs 0.27), respectively. Petrol prices in Mumbai decreased by Rs 0.30 to be priced at Rs 86.91 per litre, while diesel price was cut by Rs 0.28 to be priced at Rs 78.54 per litre.

The S&P BSE Sensex rose as much as 1.3 percent to 34,749 and the NSE Nifty 50 Index climbed 1 percent or 105 points to 10,409.

Sixteen of 19 sector gauges compiled by BSE were trading higher led by the S&P BSE Finance Index's 1 percent gain. On the flipside, the S&P BSE IT Index was top loser, down 0.95 percent.

Seven Injured as Fire Breaks out in West Delhi

Seven people were injured after a fire broke out due to leakage of gas in a house in west Delhi's Raghubir Nagar area, police said Monday.

A call was received Sunday at around 8.31 pm regarding blast of a gas cylinder inside the house. After reaching the spot, it was revealed that the fire was due to gas leakage and there was no cylinder blast, said Monika Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).

Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Raping 18-Yr-Old Girl

A POCSO court here Monday awarded life imprisonment to a man for raping an 18-year-old girl at knife-point in suburban Kurla.

The victim had joined a dance academy in Kurla in June 2012, where she came in touch with the accused who was also a student there. The two entered into a relationship but the victim called it off.

On July 7, 2013, the accused called the victim to the dance centre near the Phoenix Mall in Kurla on the pretext of rehearsing for a dance event. There he raped the victim and even took nude pictures of her.

29 Personnel of Tripura State Rifles Injured in Bus Accident

At least 29 personnel of 8th battalion of Tripura State Rifles were injured in a bus accident in Baramura hills area of West Tripura district on Monday, 22 October. The bus was on its way from Dhalai district's Lalcherra. The personnel were reportedly on their way to Agartala to take a train to Chhattisgarh for election duty.

All 29 have been admitted to the hospital, out of which two have been shifted for treatment, to Kolkata.

The teenage son of an Additional Sessions Judge, who along with his mother, was shot by the judge’s personal guard in Gurugram on 13 October, passed away in a hospital in the early hours of Tuesday, 23 October. He had been declared brain dead by the medical authorities earlier. His mother had passed away on 14 October.
