Former INLD Leader Shot Dead in Haryana

Satish Deshwal, a former District President of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his hotel counter at a Gurugram Road in Haryana.

Body has been sent for postmortem. Investigation underway.

Indian National Sentenced to Eight Years in Jail in US Call Centre Scam

An Indian national Tuesday was sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison for his involvement in an India-based call centre scam, the US Department of Justice said.

Nishitkumar Patel, 31, who had pleaded guilty to the charges on 9 January, has also been asked by a Florida court to pay USD 2,00,000, forfeit cash and a 2015 Land Rover that was seized in October 2018.

Air Fares Likely to Go up After Hike in Aviation Turbine Fuel Prices

Air passengers may have to spend more as oil marketing companies have increased the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF).

ATF now costs Rs 63,472.22 per kilolitre in Delhi, up Rs 677 (over 1 per cent) from Rs 62,795 per kl last month, according to the notification by the Indian Oil Corporation. A similar hike in the prices was seen in Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai.

Fire Breaks Out in Delhi's Samaypur Badli

A fire broke out at a factory manufacturing plastic bags in Samaypur Badli on Tuesday, the Delhi Fire Service said.

A call about the incident was received at 11.57 am and 22 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, a senior fire officer said. The fire-fighting operations are underway, he said, adding that no casualty has been reported so far.

The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.

MCA student at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Gaurav Singh, who was shot at in front of Birla hostel on Tuesday, 2 April, has succumbed to his injuries. Anil Kumar Singh, Circle Officer, Varanasi Cantt says: "We have arrested 4 people. It was a case of personal enmity".
