Death Toll Rises To 3 in Last Month's Dum Dum Blast

Death toll in Kolkata’s Dum Dum blast reached three after a 45-year-old man, who was injured in the blast, passed away late at Sunday night.

A high intensity blast occurred in Kolkata’s Dum Dum on 2 October leaving at least 10 people injured.

Petrol, Diesel Price Hike in Delhi and Mumbai

Petrol and Diesel prices on Monday, 15 October, reached Rs 82.72 per litre and Rs 75.46 per litre in Delhi, where the latter increased by Rs 0.08.

Whereas in Mumbai, petrol is Rs 88.18 per litre, and diesel increased by Rs 0.09, at Rs 79.11 per litre.

Jet Airways Apologizes to Its Staff Over Delayed Salary

Jet Airways apologized to its staff over delayed payment of their salary, stating that they are working on a solution which will be communicated in the coming week.

“We would like to apologise for the delayed payment of your salaries and appreciate your patience in this matter. We would like to inform you that we've met with Pilots' Representatives and are working towards a solution which will be communicated in coming week.”

Delayed payment has become a recurring problem in the airlines since the last two months.

2 People Arrested for Raping Colleague in Delhi's Vasant Kunj

Two people were arrested for allegedly raping their colleague on Saturday, 13 October in Delhi's Vasant Kunj area.

The victim, an MNC executive executive, registered a complaint a day after the incident, stating she was raped after the accused offered her lift. Investigation is underway.

About 1,000 Cartons of Liquor Seized in Bihar's Hajipur

Nearly 1,000 cartons of foreign and country made liquor, worth about Rs 1 crore, were seized in an overnight operation in Vaishali district, police said on Monday.

The cartons, containing liquor with labels suggesting that the bottles had been brought in from states like Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, were seized from five houses in Diwantok village, they said.

Prime Minister Theresa May will update the British parliament on the status of Brexit negotiations on Monday, her spokesman said, a day after last-ditch talks between British and EU negotiators failed to agree a draft divorce settlement.

Train Station in Germany's Cologne Closed Due to Hostage Situation

Cologne police say they have closed parts of the western German city's main train station because of a hostage situation.

Police officer Christoph Schulte told The Associated Press that incident appears to have started Monday at 12:45 pm (local time) at a pharmacy inside the train station. He said parts of the station, one of the biggest in the country, were closed off as well as Breslauer Platz square behind the station.

There were no immediate details on who was taken hostage or how many people were involved.

German railroad operator Deutsche Bahn tweeted that some of the station's tracks were shut down temporarily.Police on Twitter told people to avoid the train station.

Air India Flight Develops Technical Snag

Air India flight AI031/172 (Mumbai- Ahmedabad-London-Newark) landed at Ahmedabad at 4:50 am and developed a technical snag after landing. Flight has been grounded at Ahmedabad. There were 130 passengers on board, 2 infants and 10 wheelchair passengers.

London bound passengers and Newark bound passengers will be connected through Delhi and Mumbai respectively, today. 110 passengers were accommodated in local hotels in Ahmedabad. 20 passengers preferred to go back to their residences. The aircraft will leave for London at 6.35 am on Tuesday.

25-Year-Old Shot in Delhi

A 25-year-old man was injured after being shot at allegedly by three unidentified bike-borne men in northeast Delhi's Seelampur area.

The incident occurred on Sunday midnight when Navi Ahmed was returning home on his motorcycle.

The accused persons stopped him midway and opened fire at him, police said, adding that the victim sustained four bullet injuries.

Ahmed was rushed to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.

CBI Ends Search for Missing JNU Student

The Central Bureau of Investigation has finally closed the case of missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmad as the agency's efforts to trace him have yielded no results, officials said Monday.

The agency has submitted his report in Patiala House court recently after getting permission of the Delhi High Court, they said.

The court is likely to hear the matter on 29 November, they said.  While taking permission of the Delhi High Court to close the case, the agency which began their probe in May last year had said all aspects were looked into but it could not find any trace of an offence.

12 New Cases of Zika Virus Emerge in Rajasthan

Twelve new cases of Zika virus were detected in Jaipur Monday, taking the total number of infected people to 72, a Rajasthan health department official said.

The figures were issued after a review meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) medical and health, Veenu Gupta.

"Sixty out of the total 72 patients are healthy after treatment," the official said after the meeting where measures required to contain the situation were discussed.

Three Students Drown in Bengaluru Lake While Taking Selfie

The craze for selfie claimed the lives of three teenage students as they drowned in Nijagalkere lake on the outskirts of Bengaluru Monday, police said.

The boys were among 50 students from Siddaganga Pre-University College in Tumakuru district who had come to Dobbespet to take part in the National Service Scheme (NSS) camp for service.

Three students, in the age group of 16-17, went to the Siddheshwara shrine.

Imran Khan To Visit China on 3 November

Prime Minister Imran Khan will embark on his first visit to China on 3 November and is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and other top leaders and discuss ways to boost defence ties as well as the controversy-hit China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, according to a media report on Monday.

Prime Minister Khan's visit to China, Pakistan's "all weather" ally, will come ahead of a visit to Islamabad by officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for formal discussions on a bailout package for the cash-strapped country.

Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen Dies at 65

Paul Allen, who co-founded Microsoft with his childhood friend Bill Gates, has died. He was 65.

Allen’s company Vulcan Inc. said in a statement that he died on Monday, 15 October. Earlier this month Allen said the cancer he was treated for in 2009, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, had returned.

Allen, who was an avid sports fan, owned the Portland Trail Blazers and the Seattle Seahawks

Allen and Gates founded Microsoft Corp. in 1975. Microsoft’s big break came in 1980, when IBM Corp. decided to move into personal computers. IBM asked Microsoft to provide the operating system.
