New Zealand Bans Boeing 737 MAX Flights

New Zealand's aviation watchdog joined counterparts worldwide on Wednesday in banning Boeing 737 MAX aircraft from its airspace in the wake of a deadly plane crash in Ethiopia.

New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it was imposing the temporary suspension after consultation with other regulators.

Militant Hideout Busted in J&K's Kulgam District, One Arrested

One person was arrested and arms and ammunition, including grenades, were seized by security forces from a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said Wednesday.

"On credible input, a joint party of police and other security forces busted a hideout in a residential house at Kulgam district's Yaripora area, and recovered arms and ammunition, including grenades and live rounds, last night," a police spokesman said here.

Mohammad Ayoub Rather, a resident of Yaripora, was arrested, he said.

Police have registered a case and an investigation has been initiated, the spokesman said.

19 Migrants Kidnapped From Bus in Mexico

Nineteen passengers who were kidnapped from a bus last week in northern Mexico were migrants, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Tuesday, as investigators worked through the murky details of the case.

The men were crossing the violent state of Tamaulipas, on the US-Mexican border, on Thursday when four vehicles blocked the road and forced their bus to stop, according to authorities.

Armed men then boarded the coach and kidnapped 19 passengers whose names they had on a list.

"I can confirm that they were migrants," Lopez Obrador said, referring to the abducted men, without specifying their nationalities.

SpiceJet Tanks 8% After India Bans Boeing 737 Max 8 Planes

Shares of SpiceJet slumped 8 percent in morning trade on BSE, after the country banned Boeing 737 Max 8 planes following the Ethiopian Airlines crash.

On Tuesday night, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced its decision to "immediately" ground the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft.

The decision came days after a 737 MAX 8 aircraft operated by the Ethiopian Airlines crashed near Addis Ababa killing 157 people, including four Indians.

Khalistan Commando Force Militant and Associate of Bhinderwale Arrested: Delhi Police

A member of the banned terrorist group and an associate of Jarnail Singh Bhinderwale, who was killed by the Indian Army in 'Operation Blue Star' in 1984 was nabbed by the Delhi police, officials said on Wednesday.

The accused Gursewak Singh (53), is a member of Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) and was planning to re-constitute his organization on directions of KCF chief Paramjeet Singh Panjwad, who was based in Pakistan, police said.

Singh was also in touch with Jagtaar Singh Hawara and other terrorists lodged in various jails in India including Tihar jail, police said adding Gursewak was arrested by the crime branch from ISBT Delhi on 12 March where he had come to meet one of his contacts.

Gursewak was previously involved in more than 50 cases of terrorist activities, murders of police officials and informers, robberies in banks and police station among others, said Ajit Kumar Singla, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime).

Govt Appoints Five New Joint Directors in CBI

Five new Joint Directors have been appointed in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), according to a Personnel Ministry order issued on Wednesday, 13 March.

Those appointed are – IPS officers Sampat Meena, Anurag, Rakesh Aggarwal, Violas Kumar Choudhry and D C Jain, it said.

Meena, Anurag and Aggarwal are 1994 batch officers of Jharkhand, Tripura and Himachal Pradesh cadre, respectively.

While Jain is 1991 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, Choudhry is of 1997 batch and belongs to the Jammu and Kashmir cadre.

Of the five officers, Anurag, Aggarwal and Jain have earlier worked in the CBI as Superintendent of Police or Deputy Inspector General level officers, officials said.

US Committed to Six American Nuclear Plants in India, Says MEA

The 9th round of India-US Strategic Security Dialogue was held in Washington DC on March 13. Indian delegation was led by Vijay Gokhale, Foreign Secretary, while US delegation was led by Andrea Thompson, Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, said Ministry of External Affairs.

The two sides exchanged views on a wide range of global security & nonproliferation challenges & reaffirmed their commitment to work together to prevent proliferation of WMDs & their delivery systems & to deny access to such weapons by terrorists & non-state actors.

They committed to strengthen bilateral security and civil nuclear cooperation, including the establishment of six US nuclear power plants in India. The United States reaffirmed its strong support of India’s early membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

Russian Air Raids Kill 13 Civilians in Syria

Russian air strikes killed at least 13 civilians, including six children, Wednesday in Idlib province, in the first such raids since a September truce deal, a monitor said.
