Hingoli Tense After Clash Between Two Groups On Eid Day

17 Year Old Girl Raped in UP Village

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth of her village in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh. The girl's sister in her complaint, which was lodged on Saturday, said the youth raped the 17-year-old when she was alone at her house.

BCI Imposes 3-Year Moratorium on Opening of New Law Colleges

Taking note of mushrooming of law colleges in the country, the Bar Council of India has imposed a three-year moratorium on opening of new institutions barring national law universities, if proposed by a state.

The apex bar body said that it would lay stress on the improvement of standard of existing institutions and that the ones without any proper infrastructure or faculty would be closed down in the next three years.

The council has also requested state governments and universities to stop unfair means and to fill up vacancies of law teachers in all colleges and universities within a period of four months.

Conservative Giammattei Elected Guatemala President

Conservative Alejandro Giammattei has been elected president in Guatemala, sweeping to victory on promises to stem mass migrations to the United States by combating poverty, corruption and violence in the Central American country.

Giammattei defeated former first lady Sandra Torres in a run-off Sunday, garnering more than 58 percent of the vote. Torres, a social democrat, won 42 percent.

More than 99 percent of the ballots have been counted, according to Supreme Electoral Tribunal, whose president Julio Solorzano had declared the result "already irreversible" part-way through the count.

Maha Athletes Qualifying for Olympics to Get Extra Rs 50 Lakh

Maharashtra Sports Minister Ashish Shelar on Monday announced that an additional fund of Rs 50 lakh would be given to the athletes from the state who have qualified for the Olympics.

A media release issued by Shelar's office said the minister made the announcement during a programme held at the Balewadi Sports complex here.

According to it, the money will be given to the qualified athletes for preparation for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Priyanka Gandhi to Visit Umbha Village on Tuesday

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Umbha village on Tuesday to meet the family members of ten Gond tribals who were gunned down last month over a land dispute.

The administration has started preparations for the visit, and security arrangements are being initiated in line with her security requirements, an official spokesman said.

Priyanka Gandhi will also talk to the affected families about the development works in the village and try to get first-hand account of the steps taken by the government for their security after the incident, party sources said.
