Two militants were killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces at Guloora area of Handwara on Tuesday, 11 September, ANI reported. ANI added that search operations are underway.
HIV/AIDS Act 2017 to be Implemented from 10 September
HIV/AIDS Act, 2017 will be implemented from 10 September 2018, ANI reported quoting the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
According to National Aids Control Organisation (NACO), the Act is to provide for the prevention and control of the spread of HIV/AIDS and for the protection of human rights of persons affected by the said virus and syndrome and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
The law prohibits discrimination against people with HIV/AIDS.
Talks Underway for Second Trump-Kim Meeting: US
The White House has said talks are underway with North Korea over the possibility of a second summit between US President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un after the North Korean leader sent a "very warm" letter, PTI reported.
The first meeting was held in Singapore in June.
"President has received the letter from Kim Jong-un. It was a very warm, very positive letter. We won't release the full letter unless the North Korean leader agrees that we should,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters at her daily news conference on Monday.
Petrol Prices Cross Rs 90 in Parts of Maharashtra
A day after the Opposition called for a nationwide bandh across the country to protest against fuel price hike, petrol prices in parts of Maharashtra crossed the Rs 90 mark, India Today reported.
According to India Today, in Parbhani in eastern Maharashtra, petrol is being sold at Rs 90.05 per litre while diesel at Rs 77.92 per litre. In Mumbai, the price of petrol rose to Rs 88.26 per litre today while diesel is at 77.47 per litre.
Sensex Currently at 37,916.84; Nifty at 11,434.45
The benchmark Sensex on Tuesday rose 95.32 points, or 0.25 percent, to 38,017.49 in opening trade, PTI reported. According to ANI, Sensex is currently at 37,916.84 while Nifty is at 11,434.45.
Rupee Opens At 72.30 Against US Dollar
The Indian Rupee came off record low levels and opened higher at 72.30 per dollar against yesterday's close of 72.44, BloombergQuint reported.
The local unit rose as much as 0.2 percent or 17 paise to 72.2763 amid the government, expressing concern about the rupee’s decline for the first time, saying it’s considering a plan to tap its citizens overseas, a government official told BQ on Monday.
2 in Chittorgarh Held for Allegedly Smuggling Cows
Two people in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh were arrested for allegedly smuggling cows, early morning on Tuesday, 11 September, ANI reported. Police seized the vehicle in which the accused were transporting more than 50 cows. Police have sent the cows to cow shelter and a case has been registered against the accused.

US Wants Pak to Co-operate in War Against Terror
The US has conveyed to Pakistan that it wants Islamabad to cooperate fully in the war against terrorism as it is a matter of "extraordinary importance" to America, President Donald Trump's National Security Advisor John Bolton has said, as reported by PTI.
During his visit to Islamabad last week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had pressed the new Pakistani government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan "to do more" to rein in terror groups operating from the country's soil.
Dalit Medical Student Shot Dead in UP
A Dalit medical student was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Mandla village in Uttar Pradesh, PTI reported.
Circle Officer Rizwan Ahmad told PTI that Rajat was killed on Monday, 10 September, when he was returning to his village from college. He was in the second year of the medical course.
The victim's amily members staged a protest by keeping the body on the road and blocking the highway demanding action against accused, police added.

UIDAI’s Aadhaar Software Hacked: Media Report
A software patch that disables critical security features of the Aadhaar database has compromised the biometric and personal data of over a billion enrolled Indians, an investigation by Huffington Post has revealed.
The patch, available for as little as Rs 2,500, allows individuals located anywhere in the world to generate the unique 12-digit Aadhaar number. This not only busts the age-old line proffered by the government of Aadhaar database being secure but more importantly raises huge national security implications.
The seriousness of the breach can be gauged from the claim that sourcing the patch is as easy as gaining access to one of the many WhatsApp groups where it is being sold. Moreover, the article says that using the patch is as simple as “installing the enrollment software on a PC.”

At Least 20 Feared Dead in Telangana Bus Accident
Over 20 people were killed and several others were injured after a state-run road transport corporation bus overturned and fell into a valley in Telangana's Jagitial district on Tuesday morning, TNM reported.
Horrifying videos from the accident showed many people lying around lifeless. Many of the injured can be seen bleeding, even as locals rushed to the spot to help. Some reports suggest that the death toll could be above 30.

Asaram Bapu Files mercy Plea Seeking Dilution of Life Imprisonment in Rape Case
Self-styled godman Asaram, who was convicted for raping a minor girl, has sent a mercy plea to the governor of Rajasthan seeking dilution of his life sentence, PTI reported.
On 25 April, a Jodhpur court had sentenced Asaram to life in prison after finding him guilty of raping a teenage girl in his ashram five years ago. Challenging the sentence, Asaram had moved high court on 2 July but the petition is yet to be listed for hearing.
On receipt of his mercy plea, the governor sent it to the home department seeking a detailed report on the plea.
Sensex, Nifty Extend Decline As Rupee Resumes Decline

UIDAI Refutes Report on Aadhaar Software Hacking, Calls It 'Incorrect' and 'Baseless'
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Tuesday dismissed reports of the Aadhaar Enrolment Software being hacked, and said the news was "completely incorrect and irresponsible”, reported ANI.
UIDAI added that it has taken full measures to ensure end-to-end security of resident data and no operator can make or update Aadhaar unless the resident himself gives his biometric.

The Election Commission has issued an advisory to Chief Electoral Officers of all the states and Union Territories which said, “In pursuance of Supreme Court judgement, NOTA option will no longer be applicable in Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections. An Enforcement Directorate investigation has found that absconding jeweller Mehul Choksi diverted over Rs 3,250 crore funds, allegedly defrauded from a Punjab National Bank branch in Mumbai, to foreign shores and he was in business of "highly inflating" prices of precious metals sold from his outlets, reported PTI.
The businessman has rejected the charges as “baseless”.
