Gujarat: Police seized demonetized currency notes worth Rs 3.5 crore in Navsari on 10 February, reported ANI .
Shaileshgiri Goswami, Investigation Officer said, "Four persons have been arrested and the car from which the demonetized currency was recovered, has been seized."

Five Arrested in Delhi's Rohini, Weapons Seized
A team of Special Cell of Police apprehended five people after a brief shootout near Swarn Jayanti Park in Rohini. Three out of the five people were injured and five weapons were seized from their possession. They are associates of the members of Neeraj Bawana gang and are wanted in two murder cases.

Suspicious Movement Detected Around Army Camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri
Security personnel of Army Artillery unit at Rajarwani, Uri detected some suspicious movement around the camp and opened fire on Sunday night.

The Delhi High Court Monday issued notice to controversial meat exporter Moin Akhtar Qureshi on a CBI plea to enhance the security amount he has to pay to travel abroad.
Justice Chander Shekhar sought the response of Qureshi on the agency's plea seeking enhancing of security from Rs two crore to Rs six crore which Qureshi, accused in a cheating and corruption case, has been asked to furnish to travel to the UAE and Pakistan.

Air Customs officers of Goa customs apprehended a woman passenger, coming from Dubai, at Dabolim Airport. 590 gm of gold paste valued at Rs 18,08,840 was recovered from her.
The paste was kept in a polythene packet concealed in the waistband of her pair of jeans.

Senior diplomat Ruchira Kamboj has been appointed as India's next ambassador to Bhutan, the External Affairs Ministry said on Monday.
Kamboj, a 1987-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is presently India's High Commissioner to South Africa.
She is expected to take up the assignment shortly, the ministry said in a statement.

The Parliamentary Committee has issued a 15 day notice to Twitter’s global CEO Jack Dorsey. Twitter India’s representatives, including Director of Policy Mahima Kaul, were summoned by the panel today over citizen’s concern on Twitter.
College Trust Cancels Mevani Event; Principal Quits in Protest
A local college cancelled its annual day function today, after its trustees got protest calls against Dalit leader and Independent MLA Jignesh Mevani being made the chief guest.
Slamming the decision of the Brahamchari Vadi Trust, which runs the HK Arts College, principal Hemant Shah resigned from his post, claiming the trust "compromised on the freedom of expression" and gave in to threats by student leaders of a political party.
Mevani is an alumnus of the college. The trustees denied access to the auditorium, located on the campus, due to which the event had to be cancelled.
"Because of threat calls made by BJP goons, trustees of HK Arts college, Ahmedabad I graduated from cancelled the annual function where I was invited as chief guest. Was going to talk about life and mission of Babasaheb (Ambedkar). Salute to Principal Hemant Shah who resigned on moral ground," Mevani tweeted.

SC Refuses to Entertain BJP Plea Challenging Ban on Loudspeakers in WB
The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a plea of the West Bengal BJP seeking to overturn the 2013 ban enforced by the Mamata Banerjee government on the use of loudspeakers in the state between February and March due to the class 10 and 12 board examinations.
A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan and Justice Sanjiv Khanna expressed unwillingness to allow the plea, leading senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi to withdraw it.

Bombay HC Extends Teltumbde's Interim Protection
The Bombay High Court today extended Dalit scholar Anand Teltumbde's interim protection from arrest till 22 February and directed the Pune Police to release him on a personal bond and surety in case he is arrested before the next hearing.
Teltumbde, who is facing arrest by the Pune Police in the Elgar Parishad-Bhima Koregaon case, was granted time till February 11 to exhaust all his legal remedies seeking protection from arrest.
He had approached the high court earlier this year, seeking anticipatory bail.
21-Year-Old Raped by 10 Men near Ludhiana in Punjab
A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by 10 men near Issewal village on the banks of Sidwan canal, about 15 km from Ludhiana, after the car she was travelling in with her friend was stopped and she was dragged out, police said today.
The woman was travelling with a man from Ludhiana to Issewal village on Saturday night when their car was stopped in Jagraon by men in three bikes, who were following them, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Tarun Rattan said.
