40 Students Fall Ill After Consuming Prasad in Jharkhand

At least 40 students fell ill after consuming prasad at a school in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga. SS Khalid, Doctor at Sadar hospital said, "40 children have come here till now, one or two are in critical condition. It is a case of food poisoning, we are treating them accordingly."

Five Policemen Suspended for Negligence After an ATM Theft in Mathura

Five police personnel, including an inspector of a police station were suspended for dereliction of duty following an ATM burglary in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, an official said.

On the night of 5 February, around Rs 38 lakh was robbed from an ATM on the outskirts of Chhata town, even though a police response vehicle (PRV) was just 200 metres from the spot of the incident, SSP Satyarth Aniruddha Pankaj said.

Two Girls Commit Suicide by Jumping in Front of Running Train

Two teenage girls allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train in Bihar's East Champaran district today, police said.

Both the girls were run over and killed by the train near Kanana village, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Nibha Kumari and Kiran Chaurasia, both residents of Nepal's Birganj district, Raxaul police station SHO Ajay Kumar said.

Suspected militants of All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) have made a failed bid to kidnap a businessman in Lower Assam's Udalguri district, police said Sunday. Six miscreants came in three motorbikes and opened fire before hurling a grenade, which did not explode, at a market place in Panery in the district Saturday night, in their attempt to kidnap the businessman, Circle Inspector Durga Kingkar Sarma said.

Local people, however, came to the rescue of the man, and contacted the police, he said.

1 Killed in Police Firing After Weapon-Laden Car Intercepted in Maharashtra

An unidentified person was killed in retaliatory firing by police when he and his associates allegedly attacked the security men for intercepting their car laden with weapons in Solapur district of Maharashtra in the wee hours of Sunday, an official said. Three policemen also received injuries in the attack by occupants of the four-wheeler, he said.

Solapur taluka police station in-charge Vijay Patil and three other policemen were on night patrolling duty when they intercepted the vehicle, in which four to five people were travelling, on suspicion around 3.30 am in Ulegaon area, located around 400 km from here, he said. The police team found some inflammable material and weapons inside the vehicle, the official said.
