Pompeo Agrees Kim Jong Un Is a ‘Tyrant’
US President Donald Trump has said he's in love with Kim Jong Un, but Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday agreed that the North Korean leader is a “tyrant”.
Pompeo, who flew to Pyongyang four times last year as the Trump administration sought an opening with North Korea, was taken to task as he testified before a Senate subcommittee.
Senator Patrick Leahy, a Democrat, pointed to Pompeo's denunciations of Venezuela's leftist President Nicolas Maduro as a "tyrant" and asked if he would use similar language for Kim.
"Sure. I'm sure I've said that," Pompeo replied.
The comment may irk North Korea, which has signalled it is open to a third summit with Trump after a February meeting in Hanoi ended in stalemate.

North Korea Convenes Top-Level Meeting over 'Tense Situation'
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called a full meeting on Wednesday, 10 April, of a top committee of the ruling Workers' Party to address what he described as the "prevailing tense situation", state media reported.
The gathering of the Central Committee comes after Kim's Hanoi summit with US President Donald Trump broke up without agreement in February, and as South Korean President Moon Jae-in flies to Washington for talks with the US leader.
But the North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) appeared to indicate that Kim may be focussing on Pyongyang's continued push to develop its economy.

Latin American Countries Seek Funds for Venezuela Migrants
Several Latin American countries and the representative for Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido sought more international funds Tuesday to manage the millions of migrants fleeing crisis-hit Venezuela.
An estimated 2.7 million people, an average of 5,000 every day in 2018, have left Venezuela, according to the United Nations which has noted that neighbouring countries especially Colombia have taken on most of the burden.
Venezuelans are escaping an economy in tailspin, with hyperinflation and shortages of basic necessities including food and medicine.

Two People Arrested for Embezzlement of Govt Money in Delhi
On the basis of complaint from the deputy superintendent of the Archaeological Survey of India, a case has been registered under the relevant sections against one Prem Prakash for embezzlement of government money by forging bills.
Rs 9.5 crores were embezzled from government account since 2010.
According to the police, one more person has been arrested for embezzlement of government money by forging bills.

Five Get Three Years in Jail for Animal Cruelty Muzaffarnagar
A fast-track court in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat district has convicted five people of animal cruelty and sentenced them to three years of imprisonment.
Fast-track court judge Abid Shamim on Tuesday. 9 April, also slapped a fine of Rs 10,500 on each of the accused - Kapil, Alijan, Ashraf, Yusuf and Tehseen - after holding them guilty under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
According to prosecutor Anuj Dhaka, on 13 July, 2016, police intercepted a truck during checking and recovered 16 live animals and a dead buffalo at Bhadal in Baghpat, following which a case was registered.

The Election Commission tells the Supreme Court that it was not against the issuance of Electoral Bonds for funding to political parties but it was against the anonymity of donors and wants transparency in the Electoral Bonds scheme.

10 Workers Killed After Being Buried Under Mound of Mud Hyderabad

Surrendered Militant Held After 17 Years in J&K's Reasi Area
A surrendered militant was arrested after remaining absconding for the last 17 years in Jammu & Kashmir's Reasi district.
The surrendered militant was accused in a murder case.
On specific inputs, a special team raided a place and arrested the accused Mohd Irfan alias Babloo of Gandoh belt in Doda district, police said.
Irfan had been evading arrest in a 2002 case registered against him under section 302 of the Ranbir Panel Code (RPC).

Egypt Officials: 4 Policemen Killed in 2 Sinai Attacks
Egyptian security officials said that two separate attacks overnight have killed three police conscripts and an officer in the restive northern Sinai Peninsula.
The officials said that the first attack took place in the city of el-Arish when an explosive device targeted an armored vehicle, killing a police officer and two conscripts.
Another explosive device hit an armored vehicle in the town of Rafah, killing a conscript and wounding four others.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to brief the media.

Wikileaks Accuses Ecuador of Spying on Assange
WikiLeaks accused the Ecuadorian government of spying on Julian Assange as tensions mounted between the WikiLeaks founder and his hosts.
The group's editor-in-chief, Kristinn Hrafnsson, told a news conference that Assange's meetings with lawyers and a doctor had been secretly filmed by Ecuadorian authorities.
Assange sought refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London in 2012 and has been living there ever since.
Sweden has dropped an investigation into rape allegations against Assange, but he refuses to come out for fear of facing US charges related to WikiLeaks' publication of classified documents.
He also faces arrest in Britain for jumping bail.
