2 Men Shoot At Stray Dog After Robbing Man In Delhi

Two men on a bike shot a stray dog after they allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint in Delhi on Sunday, police said.

The incident took place in Delhi's Seelampur area. Police said they are probing the reason behind the shooting of the dog as the unidentified robbers were yet to be arrested.

Two Class X Students Missing from Hostel, Leave Note Blaming Warden

Two class X students went missing from a central government-aided girls hostel in southeast Delhi on 27 November. The two allegedly left a note in which they allegedly blamed the hostel warden for running away.

Jet Fuel Prices Cut To Lowest In Seven Months By Indian Oil

Indian Oil Corporation, the country's biggest fuel retailer, has cut the jet fuel prices for domestic and international carriers.

The price in Delhi for domestic airlines was cut to Rs. 68,050.97 a kiloliter on 1 December, an 11 percent reduction from a month earlier, according to a statement by the state-run company. That is the lowest since 1 May, data from Indian Oil show. The rate reached a five-year high in November.

Another UK Govt Minister Quits over Brexit Deal London

British government minister Sam Gyimah quit late on Friday, 30 November over Prime Minister Theresa May's "naive" Brexit plan, dealing her another blow in her fight to pass it through parliament.

The universities and science minister is the seventh member of May's government to quit since she brought back the draft Withdrawal Agreement from Brussels.

Gyimah, who voted to remain in the EU, said the deal was "not in the British national interest" and that voting for it would set Britain "up for failure".

"Britain will end up worse off, transformed from rule makers into rule takers," he wrote on Facebook.

"It is a democratic deficit and a loss of sovereignty the public will rightly never accept," he added.

He did not rule out the possibility of supporting a second referendum, saying "we shouldn't dismiss out of hand the idea of asking the people again what future they want".

Six Black Bucks Found Dead in Vadodara Zoo

Six black bucks died at Sayaji Baug zoo in Gujarat's Vadodara on Friday after they were allegedly attacked by a pack of stray dogs, officials said Saturday, 1 December.

The samples of these black bucks have been sent to a veterinary hospital in Anand to know the exact cause of their death, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner Ajay Bhadoo said.

On Friday (November 30), a pack of stray dogs entered the black buck enclosure in the zoo and attacked them, he said.

NASA's Martian Quake Sensor InSight Lands at Slight Angle on Mars

NASA's unmanned Martian quake sensor, InSight, has landed at a slight angle on the Red Planet, and experts are hopeful the spacecraft will work as planned, the US space agency said Friday, 30 November.

The USD 993 million lander arrived Monday at its target, a lava plain named Elysium Planitia, for a two-year mission aimed at better understanding how Earth's neighboring planet formed.

"The vehicle sits slightly tilted (about 4 degrees) in a shallow dust- and sand-filled impact crater known as a 'hollow,'" NASA said in a statement.

InSight was engineered to operate on a surface with an inclination up to 15 degrees.

Therefore, experts are hopeful that its two main instruments - a quake sensor and self-hammering mole to measure heat below the surface - will work as planned.

3 Dead, 8 Injured in Attempt to Smuggle Immigrants at US-Mexico Border

An attempt to smuggle immigrants into the country illegally ended with three people dead and eight seriously injured in a crash in a remote, rugged area of California near the Mexico border, authorities said.

The incident began Thursday afternoon when US Border Patrol agents discovered tire tracks for several cars that ran from the international border north into the US The agency calls such incidents "drive-throughs" — instances in which cars illegally enter the US, often through remote areas.

Sixth Phase of J&K Panchayat Polls to Start Today

The sixth phase of panchayat polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on Saturday, 1 Deceber.

Polling will be held at 3,174 polling stations — 410 in Kashmir division and 2,764 in Jammu division — from 8 am to 2 pm during this phase, officials told PTI.

According to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer Shaleen Kabra, 771 polling stations have been categorised as hyper-sensitive; 410 of those polling stations are in Kashmir division and the rest in Jammu division.

Kabra said 7,156 candidates are in the fray for 406 sarpanch and 2,277 panch seats in the sixth phase. He said 111 sarpanchs and 1,048 panchs have been elected unopposed in this phase.
