At Least 36 Killed in China Road Crash: State Media

At least 36 people have died and 36 others were injured in east China after a coach collided with a truck, state media said Sunday, 29 September.

The bus was carrying 69 people when it hit the truck on an expressway in eastern Jiangsu province on Saturday morning, the official Xinhua news agency said.

The accident was caused by a flat tyre on the bus, according to a preliminary investigation, Xinhua said.

BSF Personnel Suspected to Have Downed Along International Border in Jammu

A 54-year-old sub inspector of the BSF is suspected to have drowned in a swollen river along the International Border (IB) in Jammu, officials said on Sunday, 29 September.

They said the Border Security Force has launched a massive search operation and also intimated their Pakistani counterparts after Sub-Inspector (SI) Paritosh Mondal went missing from the bank of a river near the Jaikishan post in Arnia sector on Saturday around 6 pm.

Possibility of Terror Incidents Along India's Coastline Remains: Rajnath Aboard the INS Vikramaditya

The threat of terror incidents along the Indian coastline remains and a neighbouring country is involved in "nefarious" actions to destabilise India, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday.

Singh was speaking to reporters on board the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya which is currently sailing along India's western coastline.

Asked about terror threats along the country's coastline, the defence minister said, "Any country in the world should have adequate security for itself. We cannot rule out any possibilities (of terror threats)." "When the question of our neighbouring country comes, you know very well that to destabilise and to break India up, it keeps taking nefarious actions (napak har katein)," Singh said in an apparent reference to Pakistan.

Five Killed, Three Hurt in Road Accident in Maharashtra

Five people were killed and three others injured in an accident involving a truck and a tempo in Maharashtra's Nashik district, police said on Sunday, 29 September.

The mishap took place near Sinnar on Nashik-Pune highway, around 25 km from , on Saturday evening when some locals were taking their cattle for grazing, an official at Sinnar police station said.

11 More Test Positive For Dengue In J-K, Taking Toll 117 In Jammu

About a dozen patients have been tested positive for dengue in Jammu and Kashmir over the past two days, taking the number of people affected by the vector-borne disease this year to 117, a health department official told PTI on Sunday.
Majority of the patients have already recovered fully, while the condition of rest of the people is stable, the official said.

Maharashtra Polls: Congress May Contest More Than 125 Seats, Says Thorat

The Congress is likely to have an "upper hand" in alliance with the NCP for next month's Maharashtra Assembly polls and may contest more seats than the '125 each' formula earlier agreed upon, state Congress chief Balasaheb Thorat hinted, reports news agency PTI.
It will take some more time to work out an "acceptable formula", he said.

"The NCP admits that the Congress will have an upper hand. Going by the number of candidates and capacity to put up a challenge, the Congress is of the opinion of contesting more seats than the earlier formula of 125 seats each," Thorat told reporters in Mumbai.

A personal bodyguard of Saudi Arabia's King Salman has been shot dead and seven others wounded, including security forces, during an altercation at a friend's home on Sunday, 29 September, reported AFP.

General Abdelaziz al-Fagham, who was frequently seen by the king's side, died Saturday evening in the western city of Jeddah, police said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

"Fagham was visiting his friend at his home in Jeddah when (an) acquaintance, Mamdouh al-Ali, entered the residence," it said.

"The conversation between Fagham and Ali escalated... Ali left the home, came back carrying a gun and fired at Fagham, injuring two others in the household, a Filipino worker and brother of the house's owner."

6 Civilians Injured as Pak Violates Ceasefire for 2nd Consecutive Day in J&K's Poonch

Six persons, including a 12-year-old boy, were injured as Pakistan violated the ceasefire for the second consecutive day by targeting forward posts and villages with mortar shelling and small-arms firing in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Sunday, an official said.

While four of the injured -- three women and the boy -- were rushed to a hospital, efforts were on to shift the other two, District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Poonch Rahul Yadav told PTI.

A defence spokesperson said the firing and shelling from across the border in the Balakote sector along the Line of Control (LoC) started at about 3.15 pm.

Ansal API Vice Chairman Detained At Delhi Airport, Taken To Lucknow

Real estate firm Ansal API's vice-chairman Pranav Ansal, who was on Sunday detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi will be taken to Lucknow, police said.

"11 FIRs are registered against Pranav and further investigation is going on in 13 more cases," a police officer said.

Pranav Ansal was detained on the basis of a Lookout Circular issued against him by the Lucknow police in July, the officer said.

15 Injured as Boiler Bursts at Chittorgarh's Birla Cement Plant

Fifteen people were injured after a boiler at a Birla Cement plant in Chittorgarh district's Chanderia, burst on Sunday, 29 September. Eleven of them are critically injured.

“The critically injured have more than 70 percent burns, referred them to Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College, Udaipur, the district collector told ANI.
