Protesters of the Kushwaha community were injured in a lathi-charge in Patna while they were protesting against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s ‘neech’ remark against Cabinet Minister leader Upendra Kushwaha.

Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) are partners in the NDA government at the Centre. The two, however, are not allies in the Bihar government.

Also, in recent times, things have not been in the best of shape between Kushwaha and Kumar.

On 31 October, Kushwaha had told the media that Kumar had told him that he did not want to continue as chief minister of Bihar beyond 2020.

Nitish Kumar, however, soon retorted saying, “Baatchit ka star itna neeche mat giraeeye (Don’t lower the bar for debate).”

Kushwaha took the remark as a barb and said Kumar had referred to him as neech.
