The body of a 30-year-old woman from Kerala was found buried in a vacant plot of land in Amboori, Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, 24 July.
The deceased identified as Rakhi was reported missing over a month ago according to The News Minute. Her mortal remains were finally found in a plot of land next to the prime accused’s house.
The police suspect this to be a cold blooded, pre-mediated murder by three men which also includes Akhil, an army man and Rakhi’s former partner, according to NDTV.
According to the police, Rakhi and Akhil got into a relationship few years ago. But Akhil’s marriage had been fixed with someone else and Rakhi wasn’t willing to give up on the relationship, reported NDTV.
On 24 June, Rakhi was returning from her house in Thiruvanathapuram when she met Akhil and his friend and they all got into a car. Akhil and his friend tried explaining and warning her to forget about the relationship, but she wouldn’t listen, according to a report by NDTV.
The police then claim that she was buried in the night in a plot near Akhil’s house where her body was covered with salt hastily and some saplings planted over it to ward off any suspicion, reported NDTV.
The police have nabbed one accused and are looking actively for the other two, according to The News Minute.
Police have said that the body was traced after tracking her phone records and questioning Adarsh. Rakhi’s body has currently been sent for postmortem, while the police update the sections of her missing complaint’s report accordingly.
