Seventy five kids from Bengaluru between the age group of 4-15 celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi on Monday, with utmost devotion and grand celebration, but in a sustainable fashion.
Residing in DSR complex, Bengaluru, these kids welcomed Lord Ganesha by making their own murthis (idols), which were 100 per cent eco-friendly and non-toxic.
Dr Simi Sugathan, Public Health Scientist, Safety Monitor and an active resident of the complex said that the intent with which they started off was to ensure ensure that as a community they celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with zero waste, reported The Better India.
The kids were able to make the idols with the help of Bijal Kinchit Shah, an IT consultant by profession but a craft enthusiast at heart. She decided to celebrate this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi in an eco-friendly manner after watching a video on Facebook that urged people to adopt environmentally friendly ways of worship and celebrations.
